I have an almost 4yr old daughter who has been bothered with reflux since birth.
Sometimes when she's eating, her throat will make this weird sound. It seems like it should hurt, but she says it doesn't. She had an upper GI done and they told me her esophagus had acid buildup. The pediatrician prescribed Prevacid daily before meals and it does help. A few times at night it seems like her food is coming up and she's gagging. Most of her flares are usually in the mornings before breakfast.
We've been dealing with reflux since she was born. She's scheduled to see a Pediatric GI Specialist in January. Hopefully we can find some answers and discontinue the Prevacid.
Certain types of foods will aggravate the reflux as well. I started keeping a food journal to help me find the different foods that aggravated her esophagus. Now that I know, we have less episodes.
HTH!
