Opinion of Dr. Charles Goebel in Plano

I was wondering if Dr. Goebel is a good pediatrician. I need a thorough, conservative pediatrician for my 9 year old son. I would prefer a male doctor since my son is almost a pre-teen. We are working with a psychologist to figure out if my son is suffering from depression, anxiety, and/or ADD or if it is a result of a medical condition such as thyroid, diabetes, etc.

I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Jeffrey Berkowitz but he is not taking new patients unless they are babies. I loved my son's prior pediatrician, but he just retired.
Thanks for your help!

He has a good reputation on these boards but I think Dr. Goebel could do a better job. I find him a bit pushy with my children and that he tends to bulldoze past their protests/opinions without listening to them or making them feel heard. He does it all loudly and with a smile - he's a very gregarious man. My five-year-old daughter cried about it last time and asked why he made her hug him after she'd said no thank you. I did not have a good answer. I think he's a fine person but I want my kids' doctor to empower them and make them feel like they have some say in their care. I hear wonderful things about Willow Bend Pediatrics on Windhaven. Dr. Franke is on my radar. We go to a different doctor in Goebel's practice and like that one, but we end up seeing Dr. Goebel for sick visits because he's always available when the others are booked. I often wonder if the reason he is so available is that other mothers have had these experiences and prefer to see someone else, too. Again, I think he's a good doctor. I just wish he listened to my children.

I've been going to their practice since my almost 2 y.o. was 2 weeks old. We see Dr. Berkowitz, but have seen Dr. Goebel when Dr. B wasn't available. He was very helpful, and took the time to answer questions without us feeling rushed. That office is great.

Just saw him yesterday. I love him. I have been taking my son to him for 7 years now. However my son is starting to feel that the clinic as whole is kind of babyish. We talked about switching over to my Family Doctor. We live a bit aways from the clinic, but have made the drive to continue seeing Dr Goebel. I am still not sure if we are ready to make the switch.

I don't know Dr. Goebel, but I would recommend Dr. Jason Moshier of North Dallas Pediatrics. The office is on 15th street close to Plano Parkway. WE LOVE HIM.
