Open Sore, How to Get It to Heal Faster

I have a neighbor who has been to the hospital for an open sore on her foot. Long story, but she has Cerebral Palsy and her hip is turned in so her foot is twisted. She walks on the foot, but every once in a while she will get a blister, that then leads to a sore and then to an open sore. She is now in a wheel chair going on 4 weeks! She is a college student and really needs to be able to walk. She is already small, but she has lost about 15 pounds. I suspect she is depressed and is not eating enough.

The hospital gave her an antibiotic and have asked her to stay off of her foot, but what else can she do to help the foot heal faster?

What can I do next?

Hey L.,
I would try tea tree oil. I love the stuff and it heals everything.

If the doctor hasn't given her any kind of protocol to follow, I would try Tea Tree, or Melaleuca Oil. They are basically the same thing, Melaleuca Oil is just a higher concentration. It has an awesome Healing power. I have seen horrible sores go away within days of using it. My husband sometimes gets sores on his legs, from working out in the weather, and scratching that are horrible. Within a day or two of using the Melaleuca oil, it starts to scab over and go away. It is awesome stuff. You can find tea tree oil just about anywhere, even at walmart i think, and its not expensive:)

I would suggest proper wound care as well. Make sure the sore is cleaned and covered, or cleaned and uncovered, depending on the stage of healing. If the sore has a scab, she can leave it uncovered, or cover. If it's fresh, wet or oozing, she needs to keep it covered while out and about so it won't get any more infected and uncover it when home so it can dry and heal. Good luck.
