Has anyone been successful with online surveys? I know you can't make a living doing them but do they actually pay out? Has anyone ever heard of pandaresearch.com and used it? Just curious I came across this and started into it and am wondering if it is a huge waste of time or if it really pays what it says it does. Thanks!

What can I do next?

A lot of the online survey companies are legitimate. Most pay you in points that can be exchanged for things, a few in cash. You can't make any real money doing this, but if you search out surveys and qualify, you could bring in an extra $20 - 50 a week.

I don't know anything about pandaresearch, but looking at their website, they appear to be a very typical online panel research company. That means that organizations hire them to survey their panel of survey takers about all sorts of topics. Some organizations pay more than others, and the most highly paid surveys are the ones that very few people will qualify for. It seems like you could make tons of money doing surveys, but in reality, you won't qualify for most of them. For example, you might need to have prostate cancer, buy groceries from a specific store, or have a mortgage loan through a certain bank to qualify for specific surveys.

It can't hurt to sign up -- unless they ask for money up front!!! No legitimate survey company asks for you to spend any money at all.

I tried this. After three or four months of doing daily surveys, I made a total, I think, of $50. I usually got bumped out of surveys because I didn't buy the stuff they were surveying, or I didn't use the stuff they were surveying--I was bumped out of way more surveys than I ever got to complete. Since we eat and live a pretty organic lifestyle and don't buy every new gadget that comes out, I think we were in the minority for what the big corporations are looking for.

One thing I did want to mention, though. About 6-9 months after I quit doing the surveys (I stuck it out for 4 months), my e-mail addy started getting SPAM e-mail, anywhere up to 20/day. I am completely convinced the SPAM is coming from when I used to do on-line surveys. And the killer is, it's an e-mail addy that I really need to use, so I have to go through my e-mails every day and delegate the SPAM to the SPAM box. Gets old very, very quickly, and I wish I'd never tried doing surveys. I hope, as one poster stated, that the SPAM will taper off and not get any worse.

You'll also spend a lot of time filling out and working through the surveys, depending on how many survey companies you sign up to work for, so unless you have the time to waste, I wouldn't bother. The advertisements that state you can make hundreds of dollars a month filling our surveys--maybe if you'd gotten in on the ground floor when they first began doing on-line surveys, you'd make that much money. But I found that it isn't a big money maker. In fact, like I said, depending on whether or not you are a candidate they want to do the surveys, you might end up barely finishing any of the surveys. And you need to finish surveys in order to "boast your points" to the point where you've done enough to warrant getting paid/get gift cards.

I tried it, because I wanted another supplement/part-time job besides my freelance editing I do. After all the hype, I was very disappointed in actual delivery--which wasn't much monetary compensation.

For what it's worth.

I did it and it was a waste of time. They tell you that you can fill out as many surveys as you want. When I went on the website there might be one and then it would say that there weren't anymore available. Total waste of time.

I do inboxdollars.com and that one is tedious and crappy- gets me about 30bucks a year...not worth it... the other one I do is e-rewards.com and those surveys are quick, easy, and I get about 20 bucks every two-three months but it goes specifically to my upromise.com account which is education (529 account) only...

I got a phone call asking me to fill out an online survey. They gave me a code to enter and I filled it out. It was mostly about internet usage and entertainment likes. They sent me $10 cash in the mail in crisp new bills. A five and five ones. I have no idea how to make a living at taking out surveys but it took me about 30 minutes to fill out this one. I figured $10 cash for 30 minutes of my time was all right with me. Finding a string of surveys to take every day, five days a week to make a decent paycheck seems like it would be difficult though.

I got on two different ones. I got one for mamasource or whatever it is they call this site now. I also got on one for baby center. I get a few bucks on one for each survey I qualify for and the other I get in amazon gift certificates. I don't make a bunch off them but every once in awhile I tell them about beverages or my computer and I get something.

So They are all fine and dandy for maybe lunch money a couple times a month but other than that I find them kinda useless. I usually end up thinking I just got paid 3 dollars for 15 mins. Seriously! hehe

I have done quite a few and you don't make tons but every bit helps. I have gotten a lot of gift cards and some checks. My favorite is mysurvey.com since the surveys don't take long to answer and the points seem to add up fast. I also won 10,000 points once that equalled $100 so that was nice. Mypoints.com is good too. You usually get 5 points for reading the email that comes and then you can cash in your points for gift cards. Also if you shop online you can do so through their website and earn poins towards gift cards. I also do epoll.com but they don't send surveys very often and harrispoll which the points add up pretty quickly. I recently signed up for pandaresearch and I got a lot of spam after signing up for that but it has tapered off now. I just click on the emails to get points, haven't done any surveys or anything so not sure how much money I have made just doing that. Send earnings and inboxdollars are 2 more that I just read the emails and eventually get enough money to get $30 but it takes awhile. Here is a link from someone who makes money on different ones. Good luck!

I second Tracy B. I participate in mysurvey.com. Sometimes they have longer term projects that they ask you to work on and they will pay you some cash for those. Typically, you answer surveys online and get points for doing that. You can redeem your points for products or amazon.com gift certificates.
