Hello all mamas out there..her is my question: Ive been on Mirena what will be a year in two months,,ive been on my period for the last three weeks! Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks in advance...

I have had the Mirena for 4+ years and this has never happened to me. I don't get my periods. I get the symptoms that is how I know it's that time but I don't actually get it. I may get it with a little discharge every 3 to 6 months. I love it!!

I myself have been on Mirena for 17 months and have found that my periods are last approximately 2 weeks each month. The doctors of course told me that within the first year I should notice shorter lighter periods but in my case it just hasn't happened. I have had it checked several times and everything is fine and seems to be working normally other than the fact of the length of my cycle each month. We are guessing that for me it's just one of those rare cases where I don't react in the normal manner to the hormones however it is working and preventing pregnancy. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one out there.
I would bet you that it has come out. A friends came out and she had a long period. She did not feel it when it came out, so it could happen without you noticing. Go to the doctor and get it checked. Good luck.
Hello, I have had the Mirena for 1 year and its been crazy. I basically just spotted in January and then didnt get it at all in February. Ive been cramping like crazy but no period. I think it works differently on everyone although me not having a period does worry me regardless of me knowing I am not pregnant I just believe its unhealthy not to get your period. I have decided to take it out and get my tubes tied.
Go see your gyn right away. After having it a over a year with a 3wk period not normal maybe possible infection or some other abnormality.
I would talk to your doc for sure, but I didn't have a normal period until about 4 years into it. I know... very frustrating, but I kept getting it checked and nothing was ever wrong. I wouldn't assume something is wrong, but definitely take to you doc. There is a chance of infection, coming out, etc. Good Luck! C.
Hi there N.! I'm curious to know if this is the first problem you have had? I had Mirena -IUD and had nothing but problems from day one! It was awful. I never knew when I would be on my period or for how long it would last. I finally had it removed it got so bad. I had a total of about 1 year.
I've never used it, but have read about 50 million posts of ladies that have had nothing but problems with it.
