I think it's amazing! We really enjoyed all the music. My 6 year old is a huge Queen fan, so his eyes lit up when they played Bohemian Rapsidy.

We're taking a break from it right now, but I do want to see the Parade of Nations, or at least some of it.

Hi! The rich history portrayal was wonderful. The fancy of the goodness of Mary Poppins doing in Lord Valdemort, the peace of the Isles early history giving away to the Industrial Revolution, James Bond and the Queen. So fanciful and entertaining. We are thoroughly enjoying it and I'll get to watch it again when my daughter comes home from camp!

Disliked the beginning and middle...SEVERELY disliked our outfits, 2 BIG thumbs down for Ralph Lauren, & the fact that they were fugly AND made in China? Wont be buying anything he makes ever again!

The parade of nations and everything after was good and everything about the bronze flower petals coming together making the cauldron and everything after was brilliant!

I'm just glad I put my kids to sleep before watching them. I don't need them being afraid to climb into their beds.

I stopped watching after that. It's is still on my tv, but I'm not really watching the tv anymore.

ETA: Came back to watch the lighting of the cauldron. That part was pretty good - the copper holders were gorgeous, and I didn't expect them to all rise up like that to form the cauldron. And it's always nice to see David Beckham, even if he's never been an Olympian.

From what I understand it is a way for the host nation to personify what makes it great. Although I'm not sure what the doctors/nurses dancing around children's hospital beds have to do with that. I understood the peaceful agrarian society, the literature characters and Frankie and June but the rest is mind-boggling. Beijing opening ceremonies were much more entertaining IMO.

I think it was kind of a history lesson? Agrarian through wars and industrial revolution. TOO British for words, LOL!

I'm upset that our president couldn't take time to show support for his country...yet Muhammad Ali who can barley stand was there...otherwise it was a beautiful site! My son even is up watching and loves it

Well, it was interesting, I will say that.

I'm sorry, I thought Paul McCartney sounded awful. I love him, I know everyone loves him, and he was an obvious choice to have as a performer since the Olympics are taking place in London, but wow...don't know if he has something going on, or just age has caught up with him, but I wonder if another Brit, like Elton John, would have done a better job.

I liked Rowan Atkinson though, and the copper flower petals forming the cauldron was really cool.

I loved it! I thought the history and story at the beginning were amazing, and I thought the torch lighting part was the coolest one I have seen.

I watched the first 45 minutes, and then decided to go get some exercise. I found them to be very disappointing. My kids felt the same way. Maybe if I had watched longer I would have changed my mind, but I couldn't stand to sit and watch any longer. I'm ready for the games, though!

What I saw on live BBC1 was an excellent tribute to Great Britain's history, what I saw NBC was a disjointed mishmash with horrible commentary by people I expect to know to at least something about which they are speaking. The best thing I can say about the NBC coverage is that it helped me to start watching international stations online through tvpc.com

I loved hearing the children sing in the opening, and hearing and seeing the choir of deaf and hearing children sing and sign the nationsl anthem.

I am outraged that NBC cut the most powerful segment of the entire ceremony and put in a ridiculous interview with Michael Phelp in it's place. If this segment had been in place on the US broadcast (before the parade of nations) the rest of the ceremony would have made more sense.

Here is where you can see and hear this powerful segment, a tribute to victims of terror. There will be a brief portion that is intentioally silent.
