My husband dropped his sandwich on his work pants and it has some kind of italian dressing in it. Does anyone have a good way to get an oil based stain out of pants? I dont want to have to buy him a new pair. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

thanks, ladies! I used a little bit of dawn and then ran it with a tide stain release tab. It came right out!

My favorite trick for grease is using Goop - that gelatinous stuff they sell in the automotive section for getting grease off hands. Dab it on while the garment is dry and the launder as normal. I had shirts that I had given up on that had been washed and dried multiple times and then I read about Goop somewhere and they came out. It is now my go-to for all greasy spots on clothing. Hope that helps.

Amen on the Dawn. I rub a bit into the stain and then spray with whatever spray on stain lifter I happen to have. I do let it sit for about 24 hours, though.
Good luck!

Try Original Dawn Dishwashing Soap. (Hey--it's working on all of those oil soaked animals in the Gulf....) My mom swears by it.

Absolutely--Dawn dish soap. You may want to squirt it directly on the area and then use an old toothbrush to rub it into the stain, but it should take care of it for you.

Sara, It seems that my hubby is constantly getting something on his clothesl What I do is spray with stain spray and put through the washer, DO NOT put them in the dryer before checking for stain. If some stain remains I'll put liquid detergent directly on stain and let it set then repeat wash cycle.

My mother in law swears by treating with 409 and stain spray together.

Good Luck, M.

Unfortunately I can't remember the name of it, but it comes in little yellow bottles about 3 inches tall and has a type for each specific stain, one of them is for grease and oil. I used to get them at walmart but now I can only find them at Hancock Fabrics. It works great, but hey ... maybe it's just full of Dawn :)

Another vote for Dawn - it is an excellent degreaser. So is windex but use the lemon, not the blue as you don't want the blue coloring. Try a little spot of the inside for colorfastness first.
