How Do You Get Greese off a Tshirt?

My husband use to bring home a tub of GUNK. That's the name. Don't know where to get it, maybe Home Depot type places. GUNK breaks down grease and oil.

Do not start by getting the grease stain wet. Then pat dry with a paper towel and then apply baking soda. Let sit over night and pick of the baking soda the next day. The powder absorbs the grease and lifts it off of the fabric. This works better for spots.

You could try GooGone - the same stuff for sticky/adhesive stains. Good luck!

I am not sure but I use Shout that comes in an aerosol can for oil and greast stains and it works rather well.

Amway prewash-I have to purchase it in bulk off ebay, but it's worth it. Even after I accidentally dried a shirt, it came out.

I'd start with dish soap for something immediate though.

I have had luck with Goop. I haven't bought it in years, so I am not sure where you would find it. I think I may have seen it in Target by the laundry detergent. I'm not sure how it would work on grease, but I love Zout, too. It takes out so many stains, even formula.

I use something called "Goop". It's available at Menard's. You put it right on the stain and let sit. Then machine wash and air dry to make sure the stain is gone. It's totally non toxic and works great. For more stubborn stains you might have to repeat.

This is a little tidbit from my grandmother. To get grease out, you have to use grease. Grease is protein. My grandma would buy overalls for her farmer sons, and my one uncle would come in with grease, from head to tow. She, my grandma, would take crisco shortening and rub into the grease on the overalls, and the overalls would come out like new! I use this theory on my own laundry, and it does work!

Have you tried a good grease cutting dishwashing liquid? Or even Orange Clean for hands. My dad use to use it for his clothes and he was a mechanic.

PS If you try the lighter fluid idea, then make sure you wash a few times by itself and then air dry. Lighter fluid is flammable and you don't want to get it on other clothes and then throw it in the dryer. And since things like that float on water it would easily spread to all your clothes.

There's a soap that's sold at stores by the bar soap called "fels naptha". I use it for any grease stains that I get. Make sure you work on a single layer of the item, and put a towel or somthing under it. The soap comes in a yellow bar and I just get the area wet and scrub it with bar. Then use an old toothbrush to work it out. If you wash the item make sure you don't put it in the dryer until you check the spot, you might have to use more of the soap. The dryer will set the stain. It's very inexpensive and it's one of those old fashion remedys!! Good luck

I take an old toothbrush and rub Dawn dishsoap directly on the grease spot. Then I let it set overnight. The next day I will launder with the rest of my clothes. Check to see if the spot is gone before you put in the dryer. If it's not gone, repeat with the Dawn and let sit overnight again. Repeat until the spot comes out. Good luck!

try lighter fluid and then wash as usual it worked for grease from food i dont know about your kind of grease

it may not all come out......with that said, wipe off as much of the "excess" as you can with a paper towel. The balance can be treated with a good degreaser (dawn dish soap works pretty well)....or wipe it with "Goop hand soap".......these have been fairly good at taking the majority of the grease out of my brother's shirts, but often have a darker spot even after treatment that we have not been able to fully eradicate......good luck

Dawn should get it off.I would really load it on and kind of pre soak it. Then you can work it through. It will probably take a few times but it should come out. Good luck:)
