My son got a plastic bb in his ear took him to ER that doctor pushed it in further and now his doctors tells me it will take 2 weeks to send a referral to a ENT! My mother suggested trying another hospital what should I do? Wait or not?

What can I do next?

When you say "his" doctors, are you referring to his pediatrician or the ER docs? If it's the ER docs I would talk to his ped. and try to get a referral earlier. The ENT has special tools for that stuff so I don't think taking him to another hospital would work. My son got a rock in his ear when he was younger and his ped wasn't able to get it out with his tools but he was able to get him an appointment the next day with an ENT. Maybe it's just a matter of calling around to see if you can find one that can take you sooner and then request the referral. Good luck!

My son did the same thing when he was 2.5. He was staying at a friends house and got a plastic bb stuck in his ear. I took him to urgent care where they used some tools, and was luckily able to pull it out. However, they did cut the inside of his ear a little bit. It was quite an ordeal. 2 weeks seems like a long time. Could you try an urgent care? Specifically a pediatric urgent care? Good luck, I feel for you.

Hi! My DH had a bug (alive) stuck in his ear. We killed it and took him to the ER. The doc there couldn't get it out but put a call in for him to see an ENT first thing in the morning. I can not imagine the poor boy having something in his ear for two weeks, my husband was about insane by the end of the 8-10 hours he was in pain. call your pediatrician's office. If they can't do a referral call the insurance company directly and ask them to straighten it out. Finally, just call an ENT, have him seen and let them all argue the referral thing later!

Go to your pediatrician and get HIM to refer you to an ENT and go down a list of ENT's until one takes your son sooner than two weeks.
