A children's hospital pulmonary dept. Also expect them to refer her for a sleep study.
Next time it happens take her to the ER.
And get a different primary care physician.
I have an 8 month old she has been having trouble breathing at night for about two months. I have spoken to the Dr about it but it gets brushed off. She will stop breathing for 15-25 seconds then cough like crazy and start breathing again. I think she has asthma or sleep apnea. Taking her back to Dr this week and er if need be. Something needs done I'm worried severely. Anyone with ideas or experiences like this!?
Took her to the er but they sent us home. She has a cold right now so they aren't testing her. I am switching her Dr right now she has an appointment tomorrow morning with a new pediatrician. See what they say ....

You need a different doctor.
If you can get an appointment without a referral, find the nearest children's hospital and get an appointment with a ped pulmonary doctor. you need a specialist to check her. If you can actually video tape this, you can take it to the doctor and show it. That might help you get your point across.
Good luck, Mom!

I would definitely get another doctor's opinion.
Please take her to the hospital and get a new doctor ASAP!
That happen to my 2 year old. The er sent her home while she was wheezing it was horrible, they said it was a bad cold with flem.
I took her home and she was crying, lots of crying.
I then took her to urgent care and they gave her a breathing treatment and call the ems to take her to children's.
I went to 3 hospitals in one day, and I was pregnant.
Please always question the doctors., they make mistakes too...
I thank God I knew the signs because it could have been a horrible thing
Hi, Austin's Mom:
Ask your ped for a referral for a second opinion, call him, you don't
need to pay for a office visit.
That will get his attention.
Good luck.

I agree with videotaping it.... that way the doctor can see (or hear) what it actually sounds like.
Like Latasha D said I always question doctors if I have a feeling it is more than they are saying it is. They're humans too and make mistakes and they often think we are hysterical mothers or they only see the child for a few minutes and we see things all day and night that they might miss. Breathing issues are nothing to mess with in a baby and neither is asthma or bronchitis. I would see if someone will give her a breathing treatment or something to stop this now. One of our allergic babies had to sleep in a position where her head was up so she could breathe better. She had allergies and coughed, etc. Medication will help if it's something like allergies. See a doctor now.
I would take her to the ER if she can't breathe.
Kind of push when you get to see someone telling them what you know.
I feel like sometimes the ER staff treats things more urgently that at a dr
visit during office hours.
Let us know what happens.
Find a different doctor please. This one is not listening to you. That tells me that he will not listen even later on when other things are going on.
An ENT might be where you need to go. Call your insurance provider and find out who is on your program and if you need a referral. If you do then get a list of approved docs you can have as her primary doc and make an appointment with one of them to get established. Let them know right off that you are going to need a referral at the end of the appointment to Doc ENT XXX so they will know how serious you are about this.
I suggest you record the incident on your cell phone and show it to the doctor at the next appointment. If you need a referral, try to get one to a pediatric sleep specialist (there are several in the area). Regardless, I think a second opinion is certainly appropriate here, even it is from another pediatrician...
that is sleep apnea, go to a different doctor, more then likely the doctor brushed you off because he doesnt know anything about it, set up an appt with a infant sleep specialist..and dont take a no for an answer, a child should NEVER stop breathing in their sleep !!!
