Well we just found out that we are having another child and while we were expecting to move before the birth, things have changed. So I am currently being seen in Evans, but the horror stories are to bad to ignore. So I am changing the insurance to see an outside DR. Of course now I have to look into the hospital I want to deliver in and a Dr to do it. I have to have a c-section and prefer no staples, but otherwise I am a little lost.

So if anyone has any awesome stories/experiences or aweful....please share. I appreciate any insight. :-)

What can I do next?

In my professional opinion Memorial North Hospital is the best medical facility to have a baby because they are very mother-baby friendly. My favorite two OB's at that hospital are Dr. John Baer http://www.cs-obgyn.com and Dr. Christian York http://www.northspringsobgyn.com . Memorial Central Hospital would be my second choice and a great OB there is Dr. Lisa Hovenga http://www.womensassociates.com .

I LOVE my OB/GYN Dr. Deborah Lasley, from Women Associates http://www.womensassociates.com/ She is great and is also a surgeon. She is affiliated with Memorial Central, and I have had numerous stays there and they have been great and very comfortable. The labor wing has been recently renovated so it's very nice. My pregnancies have all been semi high risk, but my doctor has been great and watching me and doing everything necessary for my needs and wants.

My first pregnancy did not work out, I had twins but lost them at 15 weeks. I had to go into the hospital to deliver, and my doctor came in from her vacation to help me get thru it all. What doctor will do that.

With my second pregnancy I had a cyst growing on my right ovary, and it was unclear if it was cancerous or not. So, at 13 weeks pregnant it had to be removed. I went in for surgery and my doctor was the one doing the surgery which made me feel much better about the whole thing. Luckily, it wasn't cancerous, but it was still life threatening. My doctor was able to remove the cyst along with my ovary, and the pregnancy was still successful. It was a long recovery, but my doctor was great, and paid close attention to us. In the end I got a beautiful little girl.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

We moved to the Springs when I was 5 months pregnant. I was really nervous about switching doctors in the middle of my pregnancy, but a friend suggested where I should go. I delivered about 2 months ago and had a good experience. My doc is Dr. Andrea Lerch and her office is in the Sister's Pavillion at Penrose Hospital on Powers and Woodmen. I can't remember the name of her office right now, sorry. Anyway, I have a complicated health history and she took everything very seriously. I was going to try a vaginal delivery, but my baby was estimated at over 10 lbs and she was uncomfortable with the risks, especially with my health history. My baby was delivered c-section, actually by her associate, because I went into labor on the weekend, on my own the day before my scheduled c-section. Everthing went wonderfully and my baby weighed in at 10 lbs! This was my third delivery, but my first c-section. I had several post-partum nurses at the hospital tell me how "well done" my incision was (though I did have staples:). I was amazed at how quickly and completely I healed. Dr. Lerch is professional and has years of experience. The friend that referred me to her had her 2 kids delivered by Dr. Lerch over 10 years ago . . . one of her babies flatlined during labor and Dr. Lerch saved her life with an emergency c-section. That's the kind of doctor I want taking care of me and my baby. If we do this all over again, we'll definitely be going to her. The nurses and staff at her office are wonderful, too. Good luck!

I have had 3 vaginal births at Evans and had no problems. I love the midwives wives are wonderful. I've had friends who have had c-sections there and they didn't have any horror stories. I had midwife Bultima (not sure about spelling) the last time. It was the best birth ever. She was encouraging and me do things the way I wanted. Best experience ever.

Ditto to Dr. Deborah Lasley. Although she did not deliver my now 4 1/2YO daughter, my OB/GYN then was Dr. Judith Brinkman at Colorado Springs Health Partners. Wonderful and caring.

The only reason for the switch in OB/GYNs about 1 1/2 years ago was simply an insurance change, not anything that was service related.

Best of luck!
