Hi moms, I hope some of you can answer this question of mine that I've been confused of. I currently have food stamp in the state of NY and I just recently moved to NJ. What will happen to my NY food stamp? Can it be transfer to NJ? What do I have to do to continue this benefit? I really hope some of you moms have the answer. Thanks in advance! A. P

use up what you have from NY in NJ and re-apply for NJ as soon as you can...you can use EBT cards from any state in any state. They will not give you new card in NJ until you no longer recieve from NY

Contact your worker in New York and ask what you should do. If it were in the same state, they could transfer your case but I don't know if it can be transferred to another state. You may just have to apply for benefits in your new state.

You will need to apply in NJ. When my daughter moved from one county to another county within NY she had to re-apply! She was told it's because they go by your income and the levels are different in each county. I would imagine they would also be different from one state to another also. Do it right away because it takes time to get the process started. In the meantime, if you have any money left in your food stamp account you should use it up.

I am fairly certain that I remember that I read the states must provide this benefit. So you need to cancel the services in NY and reapply in NJ.

Call your worker and ask them if they can transfer your benefits or if you need to go apply in NJ they will let you know what the procedure is.

Good luck! C :
