I have a girlfriend that is now 23 weeks pregnant and she had been on the ring for a couple of years prior to her big surprise.
After reading the post about the girl getting pregnant while having an IUD, has anyone ever heard of or experienced a pregnancy while on the Nuvaring? Thanks!
Thanks Mamas! I've been using the Ring for 4 years and no surprises thus far! I absolutely love it as well. The pill made me extremely irritable (as if I needed any help! haha) so when my dr introduced me to the Ring it was great!! I was asking because I've been spotting....so I just need to take a test & see. I've recently had X-rays and an MRI so I'm REALLY praying I'm not expecting.

I just started using the ring.. and I love it because I'm really sensitive to hormones (I couldn't do the pill)... but the side effects have been minimal. It is supposed to be as effective as the pill, and it is affected by the same kind of medications that the pill is. You have to use extra protection of you take antibiotics, or some other types of prescription drugs... and they say that it takes a week for it to be fully effective.
It's worked for us so far!
Also, the nuvaring is something that you insert and take out yourself. It is inserted into the vagina, but not in the uterus, like an IUD So if you were to get pregnant on it.. then there isn't a risk of miscarriage by removing the ring.
Hope that helps!

I got my big surprise in Nov '03 after using Nuva Ring for 6 months. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Yes that's a 12 year difference
One of my good friends found out about 6 weeks ago during her annual that she was pregnant - and she was using the Ring. This will be her 3rd, so, this was quite a surprise!
I was considering the Merina IUD - I've heard good feedback about it's effectiveness. The only reason I didn't get it was because if we decide to start trying again before the 5 years that the IUD is supposed to last, it wouldn't be cost effective. I'm just on the mini-pill now (still nursing).
Good luck with finding a method that suits your needs!
