I am considering, but am very cautious because I swore I wouldn't do birth control with hormones in it but I'm running out of ideas for birth control for my husband and I, so I'm considering the nuva ring. Have any of you used it? I'm looking for your guys imput and stories both good and bad. Thank you so much mamas!!

What can I do next?

Best birth control ever! After having used the pill for years, I switched to nuva ring at the suggestion of a midwife friend. I used it for about 4 years until I decided to start having kids. I never had a single problem with it. Less bleeding on my period, and I didn't have to remember to take it every day like the pill. I couldn't feel it once it was in. I was doubtful at first that it could really stay in, but it didn't move, and I am a very active person. I would say give it a try.

I used it and while it was easy and worked great it KILLED my sex drive. I really never had any problems with it except that. I never felt or nor did hubby. I only know of one other of my friends that has used it and she liked it as well except that it started giving her migraines. We are both pretty petite people so I'm thinking maybe the hormones were too much. I'm looking into Mirena now.

My OBGYN suggested I try it for 3 months and I only lasted 2. I did not like it. I had it fall out twice, in the toilet (gross!!!), while removing a tampon. I was so worried about it and always checking to make sure it was still there. You can take it out during intercourse and we did because it was uncomfortable. I did not notice any side effects, but I was not on it very long. It wouldn't hurt to try it!

I have been using it for 3 months now. My period is VERY light now, and I hardly have any cramps. I used to take 800MG of advil around the clock during my period, so this is a nice change. Neither my husband or I feel it during sex, and I have never had problems with it falling out. No complaints for me, so far!! Oh- my BFF's hubby is a OB-GYN and he was the one that told me how great it is. He said its one of the top BC's in Europe, and women there have been using it for years with great reviews.

Hi,
I was on the nuva ring several years ago and I thought it was a good form of contraception. I would recommend it.

Killed my sex drive, caused yeast infections. I recently got an IUD and haven't noticed any hormon changes. Much better.

I hate the pill. I used it after getting married and I so wanted it to work. Just couldn't make it work (I couldn't get it in right, wouldn't stay in place, lots of irritation). Now I know of more than one person who died of massive stroke and Nuva ring is suspected cause. Look into that.

I have heard a lot of good things about it, but I was in a pre-natal exercise class with a girl who was using one when she conceived - oops. And she was a nurse, so I don't think it was a matter of it not being in right or anything. If you're totally done having kids, get the Essure - no hormones. Otherwise I don't think anything beats the pill for birth control.
