It seems when I was on the ring that it took me a while to start a couple of times. I would wait and see and definitely start a new ring next week. If you are really concerned about being pregnant, take a test, but I think you are probably ok!
I have a question about the Nuva Ring. I started using it for the first time last month. I had it in for the 3 weeks and then removed it for the forth week, the week I should get a period but it has been 4 days and no period yet. Is this normal? Could I be pregnant? I don't have any other pregnancy symptoms except peeing a lot. Should I call my doctor or wait for it to start. And if I am not pregnant should I start the ring again next week? Or should I wait for a period and then start it again? Does anyone have and suggestions or advice? Thank you!

A.....I've used Nuva Ring for several years. When I first started using it my period was late and when I recently began using it after my daughter was born, it was late again. I think it could be your hormones adjusting to the new birth control but, if I was you, and it didn't start in the next few days you may want to go see your doctor or take a home test.
Good luck! K.
It took me a while to start my first month too. It was like day 5 or 6. I called my Dr. and he said it was okay and to start my next cycle as scheduled even if I was still on my period. I've been on it about 6 months now and am regular and love it.
When I was on the ring, I never started my period until like day 5 or 6 of it being out. When I first started and was adjusting, I actually didn't start until after i had put the next one back in! It took me about 2-3 months to get regular on it, just for my body to adjust to the hormones. My dr said it was fine, but always double check with your DR!

I have used Nuva Ring for four months now. My first month I did not have a period when I took it out for a week. My Dr. told me that sometimes this happens, to take a pregnancy test and as long as it was negative go ahead and put a new one back in at the end of the week. The next month it took about three days to start spotting. My third month I had a very small period starting about two days after removing the ring. This month I started two days after taking the ring out and my period has lasted 3 very light days. I believe what you are experiencing is normal, and it just takes the body a little time to get into the swing of things again.
Hi there,
I used the Nuva ring before trying to get pregnant with my 8mo old son. I do remember that it does take 3-6 months for your body to get use to the method of birth control. For me, once I would take out the ring on sunday I would not get my period until Tuesday or Wednesday. I think it takes a few days for the hormone to completely leave your body. I do remember that it is important to start a new ring (even though you may still be having your period) the next sunday. FYI - you can wear a tampon and the ring simultaneously. (Hope this isn't too much info.) :)
If you do suspect that you are pregnant, my best guess would be to take a home pregnancy test and/or call your doctor. However, I would suspect that your body is just getting use to this new contraceptive.
Best of luck!
I used the Nuva ring a few years ago, and I do remember that it took 4 days or so for my period to start after taking the ring out. Yes, you still need to insert the new one 7 days after removing the old one or you will not be protected. It also took several months for my body to adjust to this method so your period may start at different times for the first few months. Hope this helps. As a side note, I didn't plan to, but I got pregnant the first month after I stopped using the Nuva Ring so it definitely leaves your system quick!
I have used the Nuva Ring for close to 2 years and I never got my period the week I took the ring out. I could time it like clock work that my period would start 5 days after I took the ring out. I know you are supposed to put the ring back in on the 4th week even if you are on your period. I never did because it was kinda gross. I usually put the ring back in once I was done with the period. Your cycle gets thrown off doing it that way and it can give you mood swings if you are on birth control to help balance your hormones. Dont stress :)
It took me several days to start my period also. It wouldn't hurt to get a pregnancy test if you are worried.
