Anyone Have Same Issue with Going off Bc and Not Getting Period 2Nd Month?

I decided to go off bc because I have been on it for 15 years (only going off for 2 pregnancies). The first month, I got my period after 29 days, this month, nothing yet and I'm at 35 days. My normal cycle is very regular. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. We aren't looking to get pregnant. I am just curious if anyone else had issues with this after going off the pill? The two times I went off before I got my period pretty consistently every month. I figured because I got it on time my first month off, that I should do it again this month. Can anyone relate?

What can I do next?

I went off the pill two times in my life and I got my period the first month and not the second. Both times I was pregnant! And it took 6 weeks for the test to show positive the first time and five weeks the second! However, I was trying to get pregnant both times.

Hi G.,

I have Premature Ovarian Failure, so my body doesnt produce the hormones like it should. In my case, the only way for me to have a period is to be on bcp. I never have a period on my own.

Not that that pertains to you, just stating it is possible not to have a period without bcp. I am sure your body is adjusting to the change. If you dont start your period by the next cycle, I would ask your doctor.

Good luck!

Same thing happened to me. The first month I was right at 30 days, then 45 days, then it went up to 60 days and that's where it stayed. I wouldn't complain having it only every other day, but I was trying to get pregnant so there was a long gap in between each time trying...err! Don't worry, your body is just getting used to getting back on "its' own" track!

Same thing happened to me as well as a friend. At first I thought maybe I was prego but the tests came back neg. and I didn't 'feel' prego. I skipped that second month completely. I then went into the doc as I wanted to go on something diff (tried the Nuva-ring but it and I didn't get along too well if ya catch my drift). My doc said that this is common after being on the pill for so long. I then went on Nuva-ring and got a period on schedule the next month. I think it has something to do with the change of hormones in our bodies.

Hi G.,

It's well known in the Oriental medicine community that bcps can disrupt your natural hormonal balance, and it can take time to re-establish that balance once you're off. Why not check in with a local acupuncturist--preferably one who specializes in women's health and understands herbology as well? A combination of herbs and acupuncture will get you back on track more quickly than waiting for nature to take its course.

I have PCOS and can go up to six months without a period. It sucks.

Anyhow in your case some birth controls can take up to a year to completely leave your system and your body return to normal. Depending on what you were on that could be the case.

When I stopped the pill I didn't get my period for 2 years and that was with meds. help. My pituitary gland had shut down.

I went through the same thing I am 34 and made a docter Appt cuz I took a test also that said neg. The outcome was the docter saying the pill can take a few months to leave system so your body will be off balance consistent then irregular. He gave me one more week then had me call if I hadn't started to give me a prescription for a pill that would make me start. Sure enough the day I picked up the prescription b4 taking it I started. He said it could have been pill or stress many things facter in. I would just make an Appt.
Hope I helped.
