Hello Moms!

I've been nursing my 3rd child for 6 months now and for the past 4-6 weeks I've been having mild menstral-like cramps periodically in the morning and tapering off throughout the day. I havn't had a period or any spotting just these light cramps every now and then. It kind of feels like a period without a show. I don't remember having any cramps when I breastfed the first two.

I also had tubal liagation surgery 3 months ago. Wondering if it's a late side effect from that?

Has any other moms experienced light cramps months after a tubal or during your stint with breastfeeding? Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks Moms! It sounds like I'm having some changes from the tubal. Like I said in my post, I haven't had a period in a long, long time, so I'm hoping that's not affected too much. If so, I won't be sitting there scratching my head now.

I also think I'm having some gall bladder issues, so I plan to visit my OB/GYN to address that. Wish me luck!

I had my baby 6 mths ago and then had my tubes tied....ever since then I have had bad cramps and heavy periods....I am not nursing. Soneone told me to give it a year for your body to get back to normal.

I had cramps that seemed to come from my stomach when I nursed my first. It turned out to be my gall bladder. The cramps eventually got so bad it felt like I was in labor. Pregnancy can actually make you more subsceptible to it. Just something you might want to check out. I was told my cramps were pretty mild.

Yes, it's a side effect of having your tubes tied...you'll find that you may also experience headaches prior to what would have been your cycle since you are breast feeding...some back pains and feeling irritable during your cycle are all side effects of having this proceudre...I had all of the above but did not make the connection until my migraines got really bad and we start to back track when they had returned and so severly...not the same for everyone

I had a tubal after my last baby too, and I had the same thing. I waited until she was finished nursing before having a double surgery, to remove my gall bladder at the same time. (And yes, I would prefer to give birth to very large babies before having another gall bladder attack.)
It took a year for my body to adjust after the tubal. I had bad cramps, and my period was wierd too. I had a light period that lasted for seven months and had to do a month of birth control to jolt it back into a normal rhythm. In other words, it's normal to have an adjustment period, but still ok to let your doctor know if your body seems to need a nudge like mine did.

I'm having them now. My baby is 4 months old and strictly breastfed. I've been having them for about a week or so now and I keep thinking I'm going to start my period too. My hair has also started falling out. I think my baby has begun to let up a little with his eating, he's doing longer stretches and I wouldn't be surprised if I started soon. I think it's normal. Has your 6 month old started stretching out his feedings? Did this start around the time he began solids or sleeping longer? Anyway, I think our bodies are just re-adjusting, I had my babies back to back so it's been a very long time since I've had my period. Let us know what happens! If it goes on too long I would just call your ob. I might do the same!
