Love the smell but it is havoc to my face. My G. used it religiously and her face defied her 90+ years. ... maybe I am adopted.
I love it, I always have. I am sort of addicted to the smell I think. Is it effective? I use it daily and I think it keeps my skin smooth, but I dont think its doing much for my ever increasing adult acne. I just dont want to give it up. Something about that smell that makes me happy in my shower. If I run out, I do my level best to go get more that day or the next. Can I use multiple products or is that bad for my skin too. The cashier the other day. Picked up the Noxema, studied it carefully, and said in a funny voice "I didnt think they even MADE this stuff any more" :( super sad face

I like the smell too so I am sorry to report that a dermatologist told me that using it on my face is one of the worst possible things I could do for adult acne. She actually had a somewhat horrified look on her face when I told her I used Noxema to wash my face. She told me to "stop immediately." She was right--it did help to stop using it.
I like the poster's suggestion of using it as a shaving cream on the legs. I might give that a try!
I LOVE the smell of Noxema too! I can no longer use it on my face due to my Rosacea but many years ago I got some great advice from the a nail salon when I was getting a pedicure. She told me if I wanted soft feet that smelled good too to coat my feet with Noxema before putting my socks on. It worked great!
I really have no helpful answers to your questions. Just wanted to add that I too LOVE the original Noxzema smell! It is so...I don't know, refreshingly clean smelling, huh? I haven't used it in years but bought some for my teenager recently and fell in love with it all over again!
Not exactly sure how effective it actually is because I have never had acne, I just always used it as a 'preventative' measure because it made me feel like my face was clean...Ha!

Just read your other responses and wanted to say 'Ha, Sue H. and I used the same descriptive words' and Thanks to Riley J. I am going to go look for some Camphor to carry around with me!
Sounds like the cashier who had never heard of Tabasco. Ummmm....
2nd the dermatologist for your skin
FYI the smell is camphor. I've carried a little jar/bottle of camphor oil around with me during certain kinds of work (and its what morticians, surgeons, and some police use as well)... just a dab under the nose or on your mask and all you smell is THANK GOD FOR CAMPHOR instead of whomever is currently decaying in front of you.
So even if it's the noxema tricking out your skin... you can pick up some camphor to still get the lovely smell.
I still use it. I also use Seabreeze toner on my face and Olay moisturizer with SPF.
LOVE the original Noxzema scent. HATE the new fresh scent....it's too perfumy....& yes, I've complained to the company. So far, I think it's only on the facial wipes.
Anywhooo, like I said, I love the scent of Noxzema. It's refreshing. It's cleansing, & it doesn't leave a "tight" feeling to my skin.
What about diet changes to help your adult acne? & what about a dermatologist? Good luck! & I confess: I am a Vicks Sniffer!
I've been using it forever and now my daughter does. I ocassionally have adult acne, but I know it's not related to the noxema.
P.S. did you know it works great for shaving your legs?
I suggest you talk to a dermatologist about the acne but you can always use the Noxema for other stuff and still get that sensational smell.
My sister used Melalucca skin care on her daughters face when she started having break outs, many years ago of course, her daughter's a mom now herself, but it cleared her face up in hours.
Noxzema contains camphor, menthol, phenol and eucalyptus, among other ingredients. It was originally developed as a sunburn remedy. It is a facial cleanser and make-up remover. It can also be used for cleaning chapped, sunburned, or otherwise irritated skin. Bath and Bodyworks makes a line of aromatherapy products, which includes eucalyptus bodywash and bodysprays and creams in case you're interested. Technically, you can use the noxema on your body as a wash instead of your face if you really like the scent so much. You should get something like Neutrogena for your face...they have a nice variety...regular face wash as well as acne face washes.
Wow, I didnt know they still made it. I havent noticed it in the stores. I quit using it quite a while back, it seems like it leaves a weird film on my face. I used it a lot in my 20's and I think I switched it out some time during my 30's.
The film of which I speak could be contributing to your acne problem.
I used to love Noxema. My face always felt so nice and fresh after using it. I used it from my teens years up until about 5 years ago, I switched to cetaphil because I couldn't find Noxema in the stores around here.
Now I am used to the cetaphil, it is nice and gentle. I will have to look for the Noxema next time I am at the store
My husband use nosema. He loves the way it feels on his beard and face. It's the only thing that he uses. I on the other hand use various products once I find something I like that works.
I still use it and love it, too!
I don't use a lot of products or get too fussy about things. I like things simple -- my face always feels well moisturized and clean after using it!
i love the smell too! haven't used it in years, though, it was making me break out. how about just putting a dab under your nostrils before you go to bed, or when you get out of the shower?

I personally use the Noxema pads. My derma told me my skin didn't look too bad and said to continue using it since it seems to work pretty well. She also prescribed a few other things to use while I continue it's use. I tried the cream, but I followed it with a Noxema pad and I was disgusted at the amount of dirt that was still on my face.
