After having a tubal ligation, my periods have been extrememly heavy and seem to last forever. My Doctor just recommended getting NovaSure Endrometrial Ablation and I was wondering if anyone has had this procedure and what were the results.

What can I do next?

Thanks for the reminder. I knew I had to call the doctor about getting this taken care of. I'm actually LOOKING forward to getting this DONE!

I had this done in Feb. 2010. It saved my life!

I still have cycles, but they are livable, almost non-issues now, where before I was having bathroom visits every 20m for the first 3 days.

I had the NovaSure ablation over 2 years ago due to my thick endometrium and recurring endometrial polps (had 2 D&C procedures a year apart with little success). My mom had a total hysterectomy at age 62 due to uterine issues so I knew I had to address my condition sooner rather than later. My Gyn performed the procedure on many women who had bleeding issues with 95% positive outcome so I was confident in his ability. I am very happy with the results. Not bleeding monthly was a joy and my endometrium shrank to normal size within a year. Just make sure the doctor is experienced in the procedure since radiofrequencies can travel through tissue layers and you don't want additional areas to be dosed. Good luck.

I had the ablation done about 4 years ago and love it. No more periods!! I do cycle and do have PMS occasionally but it's not a big deal. I would recommend it. I got it done and my daughter drove me home from the surgical center and I stayed in bed for about three hours and I was good as new. I think I had a little spotting for my first period and no more after that. I think the success of the operation as to whether you will have periods or not depends on the way your uterus is formed. It is a good surgery to get and my friends that have had it just love it.

I had it done about 3 years ago at 41 with amazing results. No more bleeding at all, super fast recovery. I would do it again in a heartbeat, wish I hadn't waited a year. Good luck!
