I wish I knew what 'RIF' is, or 'OJT'.
Hey moms,
The company I work for has had one RIF and is planning another one. I have worked in my field for 15 years (OJT only) and I make decent money. The problem is I will not be able to go to another company making what I am making now without a degree. Should I stick with a community college or technical school. Does anyone know anything about Kaplan College...I was looking into their Medical Practice Manager Program.
Thanks for the info.

Hi S.,
I work as a career coach for people making job transitions. I would suggest the best research to answer this question is to talk with people doing the job you want to do, to see what education they have, or would need to have now to get the job. I would also look at job postings to be sure that the education is listed as "required" and not just "desired". My favorite job posting site is: www.indeed.com
(RIF - Reduction In Force (lay offs), OJT - On the Job Training)
Community collage should be fine. Don't sell your work experience short. It's valuable. But a degree does help out on the pay scale.
I worked for Kaplan College as an Instructor. Im not sure what a Medical Practice Manager is, because every state calls their programs different names. So since I am not exatcly sure what education you are looking for, I can only tell you this. Kaplan college, or technical schools in general are great for flexible short hours, as well as getting your training quick. On the other hand, they are more expensive then a community college.
If you want more information you can message me and I will tell you what my experiences with students/the programs were. Oh....and I am also a graduate of Kaplan College. LOL
