Not Sure What Is Wrong with My Daughter.

Hi ladies,
I am hoping I can find someone who has had this same issue.
My toddler is a year and a half and likes to "hump things". anything she can find, toys, furniture and so on. She gets a lot of yeast infections and diaper rash's and it seems to be the reason why she is always humping. I have taken everything that she can humo away.
recently she had a diaper rash and it went away with desitin. 2 weeks later there is no sign of a rash or redness now but she continues to hump and point and grabs at her vagina. we took her to the doctors and they did the black light thing and saw no fungus. Her doctor was saying he thinks it might be this weird thing basically it's "itchy butt" . I however do not think it is because no one in the family has it. Her butt does not itch, just her vagina. She isn't around other kids or people so I really don't think she has it.

has anyone had this happen??? if so what did it turn out to be?? how did you find out it what it was?

thanks ladies!

What can I do next?

My niece had a issue with this as well. Take her to a dermatologist. I cannot for the life of me remember what her condition was called...something scorosis or something. Sorry I'm drawing a blank! Anyway there was a solution. It is a lifelong issue so she'll need to use the prescribed cream unless they find another way to fix it. It is technically a consistent yeast infection type issue. I do know that her dermatologist said that if untreated for extended periods of time it can cause vaginal damage. I am in no way saying this is what your daughter has, but a dermatologist or Gyno may have a better take on it.

Check her diet and have her evaluated for diabetes, it can cause constant yeast infections. Yoghurt is very helpful..only the active culture's kind...not those loaded with sugar!

I agree with the responses so far. Also, something to understand about yeast is that it can still be a problem even when there are no noticeable signs and doctors aren't really "up" on that. It actually infects the body internally not just a rash externally. My daughter suffered from them when she was young as well and the doctors were no help. The thing that finally worked was using acidophilus milk. Acidophilus is one of the active cultures in yogurt. While yogurt will help, the milk is an even better alternative...or liquid acidophilus from the health food store that you can add to her juice etc. You will see improvement very quickly if she is anything like my daughter. As soon as I did this, she was better within 2 weeks after 8 months of issues. Good luck!

It's not a behavioral issue, right? I wouldn't think so. She is so young and she seems to be experiencing discomfort and doing the only thing she can to provide relief.

This is a medical issue. She needs to get seen by a different doctor if the first one can't help.

A different story but I once had this 'yeast infection' that was killing me. I was on medication for 4 months, non-stop. I had seen the doctors 3 times and they kept putting me on this stuff. I got absolutely no relief and it continued to worsen.

I went to a different doctor, explained the situation. He diagnosed me with bacterial vaginosis and I got different medication and I have been better ever since.

My suggestion to you would be to go to a doctor that has been in practice for a really long time and, whom likely, has seen it all!

My neice did this when she was a toddler. Basically it's a yeast thing that comes from an allergy or a hypersensitivity to something she's eating. With my neice it was dairy and sugar. Too much of either and she was itching away and humping things. Do your research and do not trust medical doctors in all things. My sister and I do all things naturally and with organic foods and herbs. Doctors are trained to treat everything with drugs or surgery, so food allergies often do not occur to them. Try eliminating various things from your daughter's diet for several weeks and see if there's a difference.

One thing to try to get rid of the yeast infections is yoghurt. Try having once a day or every other day. Make sure the yoghurt says, "Live active cultures". This is the good bacteria that gets rid of the yeast, or bad bacteria.
It sounds like she is trying to itch the area. Get some Monistat cream and gently wipe some on the outside. Give her some baking soda baths until the yeast subsides. She probably doesn't know that what she is doing is "humping".
