Can anyone recommend a pair or brand of noise cancelling headphones for my daughter to use on her laptop at school? I don't want to spend more than $50 since they are for school, but I also want them to work.

TIA!

What can I do next?

Gamma - I see where you're going! It's a great idea, but there is audio she is trying to listen too. I was hoping noise cancelling headphones would help her tune in without all the background noise.

Keep the good ideas coming!

You'll get a lot more consumer reviews on Amazon than you will here, I'd go there.

Bose noise cancelling headphones are amazing. My DH travels for work, and he got a pair to wear on airplanes. I've borrowed them a few times and love them. Background is cancelled, and the audio that you are listening to is crystal clear, which is nice because you can put the volume fairly low and still hear it really well.

Unfortunately, when we bought his they were more like $150, not $50. If you go to the Bose Outlet in Washington PA (in the outlet mall by the racetrack), you can try them in the store, and maybe they have less expensive models.

Sporting Goods stores have them and she can try them out. Good luck.

I don't think you will find a set of noise cancelling headphones for under $50. I think $135 is about as low as you will go for a good set.

I wear the little earbuds at work just to block all the chatter. Once I get going, I can't really hear them talking anymore.

I don't have a pair in mind but I have had a lot of luck going on Amazon and looking at the reviews.

Radio Shack will let you try them before buying. Sales people are able to answer questions.

We get the foam ear plugs in bags of a dozen or something for just a couple of dollars and they work great. They squish up and then expand in the ear canal and block sound. Then when you pull them out they puff back up to the original shape.

Mmmmmm. I see. I think that the headphones with the cover ear parts would be fine them. I have small ears and ear buds hurt my ear after just a few minutes. So I buy the kind that fit on the ear like ear protection while shooting guns or on an airfield. I get all my stuff at Walmart in electronics.

My favorite pair is lime green and called Jellies.

Here's a pair under $10. Anything that covers the ear, over the ear, is going to work for her. They block out so much sound.

$12.47, they encase the ear so the sound waves just can't get in.

$19.42

$9.99

I think any of these will work because they encase the ear, keeping sounds waves from getting in.
