Yes, the overnight diapers hold a lot more. I also used the nighttime inserts, they kinda look like female pads. (got them at Stater Bros.) Worked great for my pee monster :)
My son has been waking up for the past week soaked because his diapers are not able to absorb all of his pee. He currently wears huggies and I change him right before bedtime. I was wondering if anyone has used the huggies overnite diapers and if there are really better then just a regular diaper. I don't want to spend the money if they are not any good. Does anyone else have any suggestions on this problem. He is starting to get up earlier and not getting enough sleep because of it. Thanks for your help.
Tina

Yes - use night time diapers, they do absorb more. And try not to let him drink too much before bed. Good luck!
Yes, the huggies overnights work! I have been using them for almost a year already on my 20 month old. I usually get the next bigger size so that they are up around his belly, because he sleeps on his stomach, and he is a boy, so that is where the wetness seems to go. I don't care for regular huggies, but the overnights do work. You also may want to think about when and how much liquid he is getting around bed time.
Good Luck!

Hi there...
To answer your question, I DO think the Huggies Overnights work better than just the plain Huggies, but they're not 100% effective. My son is also a night time leaker. I've tried it ALL and ultimately have come to the conclusion that when it comes to my son, nothing is leak proof! *laugh* I've tried the Huggies Overnites. I've tried the Diaper Doublers (which were pretty good but they don't seem to make them anymore). I've tried doubling up the diapers at night 'cause the top diaper helps keep the bottom diaper in place. I've used the diaper doublers AND a second diaper. Currently we are using homemade terry cloth diaper doublers and I put his training underwear on over his diaper. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Our best bet is to get him to use the potty right before we put his night time gear on and limit the liquid intake an hour before bed.
Um, please excuse and ignore the rest of this message... my son wanted to type a little and I made a deal with him that he could type for one minute if he let me finish this. ;)

YES, YES, YES!! These work much better for nighttimes, but we still had wakings. Just not the waking because the PJ's, sheets and mattress were soaked. It ended up not being that much money, I'd go through two a night and it was worth the money for me.
Good Luck!
We had the same problem with my son leaking up the front every night. On a whim when I was in Pavilions, I bought a brand of diapers called mom2mom. Miraculously, our problem was solved!! I had tried a size larger of Huggies and that didn't work for us. (I found out later that mom2mom is a Safeway brand, so you can probably only find them at Von's, Pavilions, or Safeway). They seem to come up a little higher and stay put better. We have an occasional leak now and then but it's 95% solved!
I used them, and it "held" more... but still, I wake and change my son during the night... before it can leak or get too full.
If I don't and wait until morning the next day... there will guaranteed be a leaking diaper.
Or yes, for nigh-time go up a size, as the previous respondent said. That works too.
They are older now, and so pee amount increases and per their intake.
ALSO, try getting a waterproof bed pad or crib pad... it's really helpful for protecting the bedding.
LOVED LOVED LOVED Huggies Overnights!!!! We wouldn't have survived without them!!! (same with my two best friends) One has a boy and one has a girl.
DO IT!
Huggies Overnites for sure - go one size up. My son is a huge water drinker, so I even use Diaper Doublers in the overnight diaper (same thing has a maxi pad, but thicker). I used to find them at the grocery store, but now I have to buy them online. They are lifesavers - or I should say "laundry savers"!
I had the same problem when my son was about this age. The nighttime diapers didn't always make a difference so I took my mom's advice. Take two normal diapers. Cut a 2 in by 2 in square in the front of one of them. Only cut out the outside part, leaving in all the absorbtion material. Now put the diaper with the front square missing inside the other diaper and put it on your baby. Now when he pees at night it'll spread to the second diaper basically giving him 2 diapers to fill. Works like a charm! I know, using 2 diapers a night seems like a lot but it really saves your sanity. I hated having to change the bed and dry the matress, change jammies etc etc every day.
I was just like you, i didn't want to spend the money or buy a whole pack of diapers if they were the same as regular Huggies...but, for us, they were worth every penny!!! My son was waking up soaked as well and now that he is sleeping through the night and wearing overnight Huggies I get him in the morning and he is still completely dry!!! I would definitely recommend them for you....however, I'm not sure if this matters but my son is a big 6 months and already in size 4's, so hopefully these will help your 19-month-old. goodluck!!!!
The overnite diapers were made by a mom just like us that was tired of changing crib sheets every morning beacuse of a leaky diaper. They are the BEST! I used the Huggie Overnites and they worked wonders and they weren't buliker than a regular diaper.
Aloha
Yes the Huggies over night diapers work great. we were having the same problem with our daughter at night till we switched over to these.
Good luck
My sister had a similar problem and used the Huggies overnights with my niece. She swore by them! For her, I know it was worth the cost.

Hi there!
My 17 month old went through the same thing. He was absolutely soaked through his diaper, pajamas and sheets, for a week straight. I now use the Huggies Overnights. They actually do work. When I put them on my son, I fold over the top just a little. I'm not sure why, but this works a little better. He has only wet through a couple times in the past 2 or 3 months. And when he did, it was only his pajamas. The sheets were fine. Good luck!
S.
Huggies overnights are great! Definitely worth the money. My son was leaking badly until we switched to these. However, I found that even with the overnights, it helps to go up one size. My son is 18 months old and wears a size four diaper but at night, he wears size five overnights. He was still occasionally leaking until I went up a size.
BTW, the Huggies Overnights can be hard to find...I can usually only find them at Target or Albertsons.
The overnight diapers are a blessing. We have a girl so I can only tell you from that perspective, but they are great. She was waking up soaked and although I am a pampers person, I went to the huggie overnights just because of how well they work. I suggest you try a pack and see if they work for you.
This may be irrelevant. My dd was soaking through diapers over the night too (though she was only wearing the normal huggies). Her hands always felt cold. I read that when cold, we pee more. I put her in warmer clothing and she has been peeing lesser over the night. Not sure if this will work for you :)
I had the same problem with my son who was also wearing Huggies. I found it nearly impossible to find "overnite" diapers. I was told by another mommy to try Kirkland diapers from Costco. We've been hooked ever since. They are softer, more flexible, more absorbant and cheaper than huggies. Good luck!
Hi Tina,
My 19 month-old is also having this problem...I've been trying to give her less liquids- that does seem to help. The diaper doublers that another mama suggested might be the soultion for a child who sleeps longer periods though. (I didn't read all your suggestions.)
We found that with boys, Pampers and Luvs work better than Huggies for some reason.
In our opinion, Luvs were the same exact diaper as Pampers, but a lot cheaper price wise.
I really like the Huggies Overnites. My son would wake up soaked every morning and now, its really full, but the Overnites hold it in. For me, it is worth the price.
we had good luck with a product called diaper doublers. babies r us sells them.
Yes, actually they are much better than a regular diaper. I use them every night with my 20 month old son. Don't get me wrong, they do leak sometimes, but nowhere near a regular diaper.
Yes, yes, yes, and yes! I love the Huggies overnights. I use Pampers during the day and I did not think it would make a difference, but it really does. My dd was waking up at 3 a.m. with a soaked diaper and jammies before I started using them and now she is dry in the morning. No gimmick, they work.
Huggies overnight diapers make a WORLD of difference! We had the same problem with one of our girls (have two 2-1/2 y.o.'s). She would be soaked when we got her up in the a.m. so we switched to the overnight diapers and soaked no more!
Hi TF,
We have the same problem with our 1 year old son and tested Huggies, Pampers, and Luvs. We found that Pampers "Cruisers" diapers worked the best for overnight use. Pampers does make an 'overnight' diaper however we experienced that this did not work as well because the elastic around the leg was not snug enough, causing leakage. Try the Cruisers and make sure you fasten them high up near his belly button in case he turns over in the middle of the night. This also helps.
My son drinks plenty throughout the day and we cut down on the liquids about 1 1/2 hrs p/t bedtime since this used to happen to him. It really helped!
Good luck!
Both my kids have used, and still use the special nighttime diapers and they do make a difference; however, there was a stage, for a short while, for both my son and my daughter that I had to also put a sanitary napkin (pad) in the nighttime diaper because they just pee SOOOOO much at night!
My son used to wake up crying in the early morning hours soaked from armpit to knee.We started using Huggies Overnighters about a year ago. He's been waking up dry ever since. They are definitely worth the money.
Go to babies r us and buy the inserts (they're called diaper doublers). You put them inside a regular diaper and it holds all night. It saved us and was the best trick I found. I swear by them and there cheap....30 for maybe $3.00 per pack.
I agree with the last poster: simply go up a size. I am having that problem right now. My son's diapers work fine in the daytime (no leaks, not too small), but he's leaked a few times at night in the last week or two. This has happened before and the solution for us was to go up a size. Good luck!
we had the same problem. my 18 mo. old was stll a sz 3 but overnights were sz 4. She was @ the very bottom of the weight range for the 4 so we got them. no problems. now she regularly wears a sz 4 and there is still a difference. If she wakes up i dont have to worry about changing her right away if im doing somethin for her sis and she wont have a pee traileverywhere she's been.
From the time my daughter was very young, she soaked her diapers at night. For two years we used Diaper Doubler (available at Babies R Us). They are no longer available so now we use Doubleup from Medline (www.medline.com/incocare/a_doubleup_liners.asp). They look like maxipads, but they don't have the stay-dry backing (which prevents them from allowing the diapers to do its job). You have to buy a whole case, but for us, it has been worth it.
Go one size up. That's what we did and it worked.
I absolutely love the night time diapers. My son was waking up in the middle of the night because his diaper was wet sometimes he would pee right through and I would have to change his sheets. Since I started using the night time diapers he has been sleeping through the night. His diaper still fills up but it absorbs more and he is more comfortable. Hope this helps. My son is 18 months and I started using them about 3 months ago.
My little girl has the same problem, but we can't really afford those special nighttime diapers. What we do is, when changing her before bed, we put on a second diaper, and that seems to work just fine.
The overnights are great and something that worked for us was putting them in a larger size at night. When they get bigger, Goodnights are the best.
Pesronally I think Huggies Supremes are more absobant than the Overnights. Try going to the next size up for during the night and that should help too. You can also buy Diaper Doublers (Stater Bros & Babies R Us carry them) they're extra inserts you put inside the diaper to double the absorbancy.
Get a plastic Gerber or similar diaper cover and put it over his disposable diaper. The diaper will still be full but his clothes/bedding won't get wet. Target/Wallmart may still carry them, if not Babies R us for sure.

Huggies Overnights are the best!
yeah they work good. my daughter was like that too so i limited the amount of fluids she got at night and cut her off of fluids about 2 hours before bed.
We use Pampers Baby Dry diapers during the night and NEVER have problems :) Good luck!!
I have a 18 month old myself and we were having the same problem. For the last two months or so we've been using the huggies overnights with good results. For the most part he wakes up very full but np leaks (don't I sound like a commercial haha) and we get coupons every month from huggies.com for $2 off them. Take care ! S.
YES!! They are totally worth it! My son used to leak out of his diaper every night and since we switched to overnights, no problems. I also pull them up a little higher in the front, since that is where he used to leak out. Good luck!
Hi,
I use GoodNites and have had far better luck with them than the Huggies Overnites. My son is 3 1/2 and still wears at night. He drinks a ton of water and, while I try to limit it in the evening, he is always wanting it. We go most times without anything or he gets up to go but, about once a week, he can't hold it or get up. He goes so much I've gone through a ton of the night diapers. They are for bigger kids, so very absorbant. I found them when he was about your son's age. He'd kept going through the others. We got the smallest ones, but they still looked huge. Never had a problem though, as they were totally absorbant. Good luck with this! I know it is no fun for anyone changing bedding and cleaning the baby in the middle of the night. Take care, S.
My nephew has the same problem, and while I think they use Pampers, all they do is put two diapers on, one on top of the other and it works great. Good luck!
Hi Tina-
I used Pampers night time diapers for my son and they worked well. He was a pee machine at night. I found that Pampers worked better for him, whereas Huggies worked better for my daughter.
Good luck!
Hi
Yes, I also recommend Huggies overnights. Try going up a size, and if they don't hold everything try adding "double-ups". They are little inset liners that help hold more fluid
Good luck
i found some diaper liners that helped absorb extra pee -- you just put them in the diaper. i think they were by gerber. it really helped my son --before that he would wake up wet with wet sheets, etc...
I started using the Huggies overnights when my son was one for the exact reason you've described and we haven't had a problem since. The cost is worth it when you figure you only use one per day (and you're not having to wash sheets and blankets every morning).
Like in some of the other responses, we used the Overnights and went up a size. This still doesn't always work, so I actually put a maxipad in the diaper as well!
Buy the nighttime diapers. They are worth every penny! They definitely hold more than the day diapers. They are great for overnight wetters, and long car trips. :)
I have started using the huggies overnights for my son and he does not fill them up as much as the regular huggies. Therefore, he is not soaking wet in the morning when I pick him up.
i personally do not prefer huggies, but i still use them because at costco i think they are cheaper than the store brand! anyway, when my kids grew too big even though the diapers still fit them they wouldnt hold as much of the pee so it would leak all over the place!
try buying one size bigger than he is wearing now.
hope you find the solution soon!
I borrowed a couple of the overnites from a friend and they worked well, but they are expensive! Instead, I bought a box of the next size up. They work just as well and obviously we'll be needing them eventually... :)
