I have a 21 month old son and we drove home the other night from our day and he didnt want to go home. Seemed like he just wanted to go back to school. He really seems to like to go bye bye. Hope not too much. Also the bedtime thing is starting to be a little harder, seems like he doesnt want to unless he takes his milk with him though I am trying to dilute it still.

What can I do next?

find a ritual to replace taking milk to bed. you might want to try to get him to finish his milk before bedtime. let him color or play while drinking to make it funner. as for car rides, i wouldn't worry. just keep your ground and be firm. it's like enjoying tv. a little's ok, but you don't want them watching it all day. stick to your guns

Cold turkey is the way to go with the milk. The first night it may be several hours. The second night will be much easier and usually by the 3rd or 4th night they don't remember. Just don't give in.
As far as leaving school, he was having fun. Don't worry, nobody can replace Mommy and Daddy. You are the center of his life. Good Luck.

My son started wanting milk to take to bed shortly after 26 months. Never had it before. We gave in a few times...then decided it wasn't really necessary and wasn't good for his teeth...and we didn't want to create a dependency. We simply told him he couldn't have anything but water after he brushed his teeth. He protested once or twice, but we just explained how it was and why. He now takes a sippy cup of water to bed and barely drinks any. Not a big deal to us though. Many adults take a glass of water to bed as well. He hasn't even requested it when we are away from the house for the night (sleeping at a hotel or friends' or family's houses).

My son was always on the go too, he liked to go anywhere and would get stir crazy when we were home, who am I kidding he still does. I dont think there is anything wrong with it, he is just a go getter and wants to conquer the world. As far as the milk goes is he just with a sippy or a bottle? I let my son go to bed with milk until he was about 3 i know they say it is horrible for them but his teeth are perfect from what the dentist said, he was on a sippy though since the bottles allow the milk to continuously drip and puddle in their mouths. Just brush his teeth morning and night to help with the "sugar bugs" He is finally on water but he still needs his cup to go to bed. I think its just cuddling with it but once we got him to water he wouldnt ask for more milk in the middle of the night and throw a fit when he wouldnt get it.
