My kids have seen Dr. Kit Newton at Centennial Pediatrics since before they moved to Frisco (since birth) and he is the best.
Just moved to the Frisco area and have two small children. I'm looking for all the things you would imagine a mom of two would need when moving to a new area. So, I'm seeking your help to tell me who your favorite _______ is and why. Pediatrician, ob/gyn, hair, etc. Thanks!!
My kids have seen Dr. Kit Newton at Centennial Pediatrics since before they moved to Frisco (since birth) and he is the best.
Welcome to FRISCO -- we have been here 12 years... have seen amazing growth in our little town. We have 3 boys, now 19, 17 and 13 and my mom also lives with us!! here are some helpful things for you.
HAIRCUTS: Great Clips, Lebanon @ Stonebrook, ask for Phyllis, they don't take appointments, so I always call to make sure she is there or to get her schedule. She cuts everyone's hair in my family. She gives a great haircut for a low price. ###-###-####... kid are $11 Adults are $14.
DOCTOR: Frisco Urgent Care & Clinic, ###-###-####, Parkwood @ Warren...We have used Dr. Ekweani for 5 years, he is an emergency and internal medicine specialists, again he treats my entire family. Their clinic is open M-Sat -- not sure of the hours but its something like 9am-9pm.... he has a couple of PA's that help him. Its a great place to take your kids if they get sick after hours or on Saturday... he treats my kids, but they are older. He does treat babies and kids b/c I see them in there all the time. I can't give you advice on a PED - its been toooo long.
EXERCISE: we belong to the City of Frisco Athletic Center, its $60 per month for our entire family. I know they have babysitting rooms for different ages of kids, but I don't know much about it. GREAT facility, state of the art exercise equip, indoor and outdoor pools, basketball, raquetball ball, exercises classes, water aerobics. WE LOVE IT.
If you need a babysitter at night or on the weekends, I can recommend my mom -- she is a lunch lady at Rogers Elementary so her days are booked during the school year, and he keeps one boy from 3pm-6pm daily... SHE LOVES kids and babysits for many Frisco families. My 2 youngest boys also babysit for several families that have boys... not sure if you have boys/girls or both.
SCRAPBOOK GROUP: not sure if you scrapbook or not, but I LOVE THIS GROUP, we meet one Saturday a month at the First United Methodist Church on Preston, across from Kroger. Its $5 to crop from 10am - 11pm.... its my creative outlet and time for myself....

I LOVE hanging out w/the girls. They also have Friday night crops but I don't go to those.... Saturday works better for my schedule.
I can't think of anything else, If you have specific questions about stuff, feel free to email me.
____@____.com -- and I'll be glad to help you out.
GOOD LUCK :)

My favorite naturopathic doctor (nutrition, herbs, homeopathy) is Kimberly Wilson, NMD. She sees kids as well as adults. She's at Innovations Wellness Center on Preston Road. www.InnovationsWellness.com.
My favorite hairstylist is Amy Collins at Luxe Salon off Preston Road.
DJ Verret, MD, (facial plastic surgeon) was fabulous in stitching up my son's gash on his forehead. He met us in the middle of the night at Centennial's ER after my son fell off the bunk bed. He's great with kids and there is not even a scar. Just ask for him if you find yourself in the ER. He did a fabulous job on my mom's facelift a few years ago, too. www.drverret.com.
Accent Cleaners off Ohio in Plano uses non-toxic dry cleaning methods.
Amparo at Fleurs & Events for the most beautiful floral arrangements you could imagine. www.fleurs-events.com.
Newflower off Parker Road for low-cost organic food.

Favorite Pediatrician: Dr. David Samara www.pediatricplacetexas.com; ###-###-####; excellent pediatrician - i have a 4 year old and Dr. Samara has been his doctor since birth; very highly recommended; could go into a long story about some problems we had when my son was 3 months old, but i'll just leave it at Dr. Samara called around to hospitals personally and spoke with the doctors there and wouldn't rest until he found a hospital he was sure would give my son the best care (Children's Medical Center). Off of Coit & 15th Street in Plano

My kids go to Plano Pediatrics. I've had good and bad experiences there..so not sure if I would 100% recommend. It just depends on which dr. or nurse practitioner you get.
Good Luck!

I love my ob/gyn! He is great! His name is Dr. Berry Fleming. He is very caring and will take the time to actually listen to you and not just rush you out the door. I have been to many doctors of all types and he is my second favorite! Second behind a chiropractor surprisingly! He is in Plano, but right on the Frisco border. He is affiliated with Plano Presby and also Baylor Frisco. Here is his website:

You didn't say what part of Frisco you moved to but if you are near the Frisco/McKinney border, then Stonebridge Pediatrics is great. They are off of Virginia Pkwy (same thing as Rockhill Rd. off of Preston between Eldorado & 380) and Ridge Rd. in McKinney. My kids' pediatrician is Dr. Alvis, but there is also Dr. Reyes who we have seen a couple times and he seems great too.
hair: Hair Haven on Main St. in Frisco is a good place. That's where I go. Chris (Christine) cuts my hair.
kids hair: I like Snip-itz.
ob/gyn: Jean Sala, a certified nurse-midwife is great. She is in a midwife only practice at Inanna Birth Center in Denton off of 380. A lot of people don't think about midwives for their well woman care but they're great in my opinion.
dentist: We use Dr. Banks at Banks Dental in Plano. She is at the Frisco/Plano border next to Blue Mesa Grill.
pediatric dentist: Dr. Simpson in Carrollton. He's friendly and so is his staff. -toys in the waiting room, children's books, nice place
family medicine doctor: Dr. Noyes at Texas Family Medicine is very nice & caring. -in Frisco on Parkwood Blvd.
church: Stonebriar Community Church if you prefer traditional, conservative music like hymns, a big choir, and an orchestra. Prestonwood Baptist Church-North (in Prosper) if you prefer a contemporary worship style with a worship band, praise team, and choir.
eye doctor: Alpha Optical of Frisco at Preston & Main in the shopping center with Pink's Western Wear and Pizza Hut. I took my 4 yr. old there to see Dr. Horacek and he had a great bedside manner. I also went for my checkup there too.
