now this is only going on for 2 days but was leading up to this..since our son was 8 weeks old he fell asleep by being rocked at 8pm on the dot! now i rock him at 8..he lays there laughing..pulling my lip poking my eyes making noises...now as funny as it is..its NOT. i tried just laying him in his crib but he plays in there and wont sleep. so unfortunatly the only thing that makes him fall asleep in 5mins is laying him in our bed he curls up into my chest and hes out. please what should i do ...i dont wanna start bad habbits but dont wanna be up till 10 and still not showered or have chores done.
any adivse on this would be GREAT. :))

What can I do next?

This is too funny I think you have been putting my baby to bed! Just let him play for a while and as long as he is not freaking out see how long it takes him to relax and go to sleep. Do you get up early is there a reason he goes to bed at 8? Maybe he isn't tired yet? It took me about a week to get my son to sleep in his own bed we co slept and he kept wanting to nurse all night and I was sick of being a milkmaid all day and night. So just figure out what will work for you. Put him to bed later or let him play in his crib and go about your business see what happens. If it takes a week or two of being up till 10 its bettere than creating a monster that eventually won't leave your bed and demand that you cuddle him all night, wich really isn't possible if you have stuff to do. Good luck

I agree with Mel F. If he's playing happily, leave him be. My two year old recently decided she did NOT want to sleep at nap time, but she lays on her bed for an hour quietly playing with stuffed animals. After a week of this, she is back to sleeping at nap time. Just leave him be, don't create a habit you don't want! If you WANT him to sleep with you, do it - there's nothing wrong with either path, just whatever you want your nighttime to look like!

If he is happy when you put him in his crib, let him be. He probably needs
some down time. He will eventually go to sleep.

He lays in his crib playing? You can most definitely shower and get stuff done! Don't worry so much about him being awake in his crib, it's ok. It just might take him a little longer to get himself to sleep but that's ok too.

Is he still taking 2 naps? It may be time to switch to one. Or just a phase.
Good luck,

I can tell you from experience, you are going to be soooo mad at yourself in the near future for the things you are doing now! I let my 1st child get used to falling asleep with my help (rocking, walking, back rubbing, etc), and he did not sleep through the night until he was 2.5! You really don't want to go there. I was at my witt's end- so tired (also sick and tired) I really hadn't the foggiest idea WHAT to do because I just couldn't do CIO. So, one day when my son was 2.5, I was complaining about this to a friend. Just so happened, she'd also had similar issues the year before, and gave me this book (below). I read the book, and saw that I had been making so many mistakes, and now understood WHY what I was doing was just keeping the cycle going. The 1st (maybe 2nd- but definately not more) night we tried this method, he slept through the night!! Granted, it wasn't fun trying to get him to fall asleep on his own, but not as hard as I feared it would be. It really only took 4 or 5 days for him to fall asleep w/o crying- he's had no problems since (he's nearly 12 now). Because of all this, I didn't have problems with my 2nd, 3rd, or 4th going to bed either. Wish I had read this book when I was still pregnant with my 1st !!!!

You can also find it on Amazon and read the 1st few pages and reviews. I'm pretty sure your public library has it, if you're not sure you want to spend the $.
Best wishes :)
