I recommend "Happy Sleep Habits, Healthy Baby" (I think it's called). It really helped me understand the different types of sleep a baby needs as he/she grows.

Yes it's definitely normal for them to sleep all day long and just to wake up enough to eat, be changed and go back to sleep.
Enjoy it while you can.

This is so normal. I remember thinking, "Wake up! I want to hold you and kiss on you." All of my friends said the same thing. I worried about everything, but this is one thing that is not to be worried about.

Very normal...at that age they sleep about 18-20 hrs a day.

At that age, they should be sleeping almost all the day...only awake a few hours a day. Sounds normal - get some rest and enjoy it because it'll change;-)

That is very normal. They normally only wake up to eat or if they need to be changed.

Yes this is very normal! and it is very normal of you as a first time mom to worry about this. It only meens that you are being a very good mommy.
Enjoy it because some babies are very good sleepers like my daughter was and some babies barely sleep at all like my son who is now seven months.

Yes, this is absolutely normal! Being born is pretty traumatic for baby just like for mommy :) Just be sure u wake her up at least every 4 hours to feed if she doesn't wake up on her own, and make sure she has plenty of wet diapers. If not, she needs to be woken up to feed more often. Also, just be sure to check on her and make sure she's still on her back, not covered by anything, nothing's fallen in to the crib that could hurt, trap, strangle her, etc. Good luck and have fun enjoying your new special girl!

This is completely normal. Our little one, now 2 on 2/28, pretty much slept until she was 4-5 months old. We used to sing her a song, "Wake up, Little Suzy Wake Up" because all she did was sleep! I was so worried that something was wrong. Up until she was 1 1/2 she would sleep 12 - 12.5 hours a night with 2 naps. Now at 2, she sleeps 11 hrs. at night and one nap.
I'm sure your daughter is just fine. :)

Oh yes this is normal...be careful she doesn't mix up her days and nights though. Other than that take advantage and catch up on rest yourself or just savor the moments of peace, because it will eventually change. Mine was up every two hours to nurse. Sounds like your little one is a sleeper. That's awesome and congrats on becoming a mom!

Cogratulations D. on the birth of your daughter! Yes that is absolutely normal. They will only eat, sleep, and poop for another 3-4 months! Enjoy it now, my daughter is 13months and all over the place, but I love every minute of it no matter how exhausting! Good Luck!

Of course this is normal. At 7 days old all they will do is poop, eat and sleep.

I would suggest reading a book like the girlfriends guide to babys first year or some other parenting books. Some good web sites are www.babycenter.com and www.babyzone.com there are lots of articles and great info for new moms.

Good luck!

yes babies that age sleep an average of 20 hrs a day...do not worry about it...as long as your baby is feeding and having at least 8 wet and soiled diapers a day there is nothing to worry about.

Yes, that is very normal. All 3 of my boys slept quite a bit for the first several weeks. We would often have to wake them up to eat. :)

I worried to- but yes! This is normal. I thought she would be up all the time crying & hungry- but that was not my dd's personality. Enjoy it while it lasts!
