I am in the market for a new vacuum and was wondering if anyone has one that they love. am looking for something that is inexpensive with a canister, not bags. It would also need to be lightweight with attachments because I have a two story house. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, it looks like a Dyson is what I'll look into!! Thanks for everyone's input. I am going to shop for a new one soon since the baby will be crawling in a couple of months!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I finally purchased my Dyson last week. The other one went out! I cannot believe the amount of gunk that it picked up off my family room floor and I had just vacuumed!! Gross! Needless to say, I love it and it was worth every penny.

I also have a dyson. I like it but nothing tops my central vac system I had in my previous house. Our last house was built new with the central vac. I would not tear up my house to install a central vac now. However, Dyson's instruction manual says if you have allergies (and to avoid that dust cloud when empyting the canister) you can empty it into a bag while forming a seal around the outside of the canister. This helps avoid the dust from everything you've sucked up. We have 4 kids and a shedding golden retriever.

One of my three jobs is cleaning houses for a living. I will never own a cannister and I think they are disgusting. That cloud of smoke you see over the trash when you empty it is millions of skin cells from every single person that has walked in your house. And then you dump it and get to breathe it in. (yuck) I have seen very expensive vaccumns. Very heavy and they don't last any longer than regular vaccumns. Walmart has a bagged vaccumn for under $50 I have had mine for two years. The bag gets full so I know it's sucking up stuff and I don't have back problems. That's good enough for me.

We have a dyson. It is not cheap but it is the best vacuum that I have used besides a rainbow. We have 2 big dogs and a baby and it works wonders. You can sometimes get a good buy on one at Kohls when they are having a big sale. It is 100% worth the money in my book. I even talked my sister into getting one and she loves it too.

Everyone loves their dysons don't they...I have to agree with them. I just got mine last week and I love it! If you would like an easier way to get a dyson, without having to fork out a lot of money up front, check out HSN.com. They allow you to make monthly payments automatically out of your debit card w/o extra charges. You will receive your dyson in about a week! I got the new light weight version and it's the lightest vacum I've ever owned..as far as the dust goes when emptying the canister as one writer wrote-I always empty mine outside in the big garbage. Much easier and less of a mess in your house.

although expensive, I LOVE my Dyson. I have animals and children so a good vacuum was very important.
