Need Your Stories for My Sister Please!

My sister went through IVF after years and years of trying alternative treatments to become pregnant with twins. Baby ‘B’ didn't make it and she has been heavily bleeding blood clots for weeks. She just hit 12 weeks and will be having an ultrasound on Thursday to see how baby ‘A’ is doing. She has not passed baby ‘B’ and has been put on bed rest for a while now because of the constant bleeding and has been sitting at home just worrying. I need stories of other women who have lost a twin while pregnant and how it turned out. I would love to pass on some success stories of other women who have successfully delivered a baby that lost a twin at some point in their pregnancy. If you have went through something similar is there something you think she should know? Words of encouragement or something you think she should or shouldn't do? No one deserves to be a Mom more than her and it kills me to see her so depressed and worried. Thank you!!

What can I do next?

i didn't lose a twin, though i bled for 13 weeks. most of the time i was told it might b a vanishing twin syndrome, sent to hospital only to find baby B still in there. i was not put on bed rest. both babies made it healthy. good luck to your sis.

My daughter was pregnant. She called me at work and begged me to meet her at the ER> she was bleeding heavily. When I got there there was blood and tissue on the floor, yes, it was nasty but it had just happened when she got up to go to the bathroom.

I saw what resembled a fetus of sorts, I felt sure it was the baby. The lab took all the stuff to test it. There was a fetus in the debris.

Her hormone levels were checked and they told her to have them checked again in a few weeks to see if they were falling the right way, to show her body was okay and not in need of medical intervention.

She called me at work a few weeks later. Screaming to me that the baby was still inside her, she knew it was, and they needed to get it out, she was crazed by the idea of it still inside.

The nurse in the ER was a much older lady who has patience beyond most people. My daughter was crying and telling the nurse her boobs were hurting, she was still having morning sickness, her tummy was still growing, and more.

She told my daughter that she would bet money she had gotten pregnant again. The nurse told her they'd send off a blood work up to find out where her hormone levels were and they'd do an ultra sound to find what was left or if a new baby was there. My daughter came up off the table and said "I...HAVE...NOT....DONE...ANYTHING...TO...GET....PREGNANT....AGAIN...".

This wonderful nurse goes Okay, I'll be right back. She goes and gets the monitor where you can hear the baby's heart beat. She puts it on my daughter's tummy. Her heart rate was in the 80's or 90's but her tummy's heart beat was in the 140-150 range. She was pregnant.

Then the nurse says....Hmmmm, this doesn't usually pick up the heart beat this good until you're about 16-18 weeks pregnant. So my daughter had lost one baby but was still carrying another. She had that first baby's miscarriage when she was about 3 months along and she was not quite 16 weeks pregnant at this second ER visit.

So, tell your sister that there is hope.

My mom lost one of her twins around 8 weeks... Though she did pass him relatively quickly, and didn't have the bleeding or clotting. (So I'm not sure how much help this will be, as the circumstances are pretty different.) The other baby went to full term, and was completely healthy.

I'm so sorry!!

I've never carried twins. I have a girlfriend who got pregnant with quads - two died in utero...she now has two BEAUTIFUL five year old twins...

Breathe....remember to breathe....

I know it's easier said than done...but keeping calm is the way to go...

Good luck!

My best friend growing up was one of a set of twins, where her mom lost one while still in the womb. She was just fine.
