L. - Join www.freecycle.org - people are always giving away tables. It's a national Web site, but you type in your zip code and you can join local groups for free and people just give away their stuff - tons of kids stuff, household stuff, etc. I've gotten some really great like new stuff that I've even given as gifts at Xmas - I tell the parents, but the kids don't know it's second hand and I save a bundle. I've almost fully stocked my house with baby stuff for free: crib, changing table, bouncy seat, car seat, high chair, swing, bathtub, books, clothes, toys. I've also gotten rid of lots of stuff that I just didn't like, didn't go with my house, etc.

Craigslist is a good place to try. www.napervilleyardsales.com also has some great deals on it.

I dropped off some items to be donated at a place called Clearbrook Resale shop in Arlington Hts. Rd. on Central last week. (The proceeds go to mentally chanllenged adults.) Anyway.... I happened to notice that they had quite a bit of furniture for sale. I'm not sure how much they were selling the stuff for. I did see two or three kitchen tables and chair sets.
There's also a second hand furniture store located in front of a Pump it Up in Schaumburg on Roselle Rd. I did not go in the store, but the furniture looked decent from the windows. The store had the word Tresure in their store name.

I hope this helps!

Have you tried craigslist.org? They usually have a lot of used furniture at very reasonable prices. The only thing is you will probably have to pick it up yourself. Good luck! I hope you find a great deal.
