I love the sit n stand. It isn't a true double stroller, because the big kid seat is just a bench. So, no sleeping.
Hi mamas,
My husband and I are expecting a baby boy in August and we have a 4 year old daughter. I was wondering if any of you know of great double strollers for a newborn/infant and toddler. Something that is great for walking around anywhere. Affordable and safe. I've been looking at strollers for a while and have no idea which one would work for my babies. Your advice/experience is deeply appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi S.! I have 2kids a boy 2&8months and a 3 month girl. The sit and stand deluxe or plus is great by baby trend. You can fit the carrier car seat on it and a place for your older child to sit or stand. Good luck on your search!
Hi S.,
I havea 3 year old and a 7 week old.. I just got the Stand and sit stroller lx from Baby trend (you can get them at Target and babies r us) I love it my 3 year old can stand up or sit on the seat and (we can still buckle him in) and it holds most infant car seat. I love mine. It also has a basket underneath of storage and 2 cup holders. I would check this one it if I were you. Mine is Awesome I could not ask for a better Stroller.

Try burlington coat. I found a red dual stroller not the wide stroller but length wise and you won't believe how many compliments we get! The seats can turn either direction, easy to manuver and has a latch for any car seat.
It was $200 but so worth it!

We love both our Bob Revolution Single stroller and our Bob Revolution Duallie. But like others have mentioned, your daughter probably won't want to sit in a stroller for much longer. My kids are 4 and 2. My 4 yo mostly walks wherever we go. I mostly take our single Revolution and if he gets tired he just sits on the front for a few minutes. We do use our Duallie for family walks and runs though.
Bobs are expensive, but they are SOOOOOOO worth it if you are an active family like us. I used them everywhere since they were so easy to manuever. Sometimes you can find them gently used on Craigslist, but they go fast since they are in high demand. Check them out at www.bobgear.com.
The Phil & Ted's double stroller is one of the best I have ever seen. It's not the cheapest but it is great....check out http://www.shopphilandteds.com/push.cp

I have the Peg Perego Twin and love it. It works great for my nearly four year old and 8 month old. They can both lay fully down, both have a canopy, one side is bigger than the other, it's not too wide, moves easily and is super light-weight. I can easily get it in and out of the car and open and close it. It also has a really nice size basket underneath.
Got it at Babies R Us.

Okay, I have had ALOT of strollers. My favorite is Baby Jogger City Series...It is a bit $$(ask for it or credit towards one at the shower or from relatives) I have found that the in lines, do not lay back far enough for an infant/toddler to rest, they fall to the side and are not comfortable.nor give enough leg room for the older child. If the infant is in the back, Turning can be an issue also, the weight position in the stroller can make it hard to turn, leg room for the toddler. I have 6kids, my 4 1/2 and 7y old still ride when we go to amusement parks etc...(they all wish they could;) This side by side is WONDERFUL! it has lots of pockets for diapers etc.. the handle is adjustable for different people heights (tall-short) it is SUPER easy to push or turn (kids push..4y-13y) It fits into doors (front house door, mall door etc) there are LOTS of accesories, from rain covers-wind/bug, adaptor for infant seat etc...I did not use it, simply put the baby in the 5pt harness (laid seat all the way down) and off we went. I get 100's of compliments on this stroller every time we get it out. It has Rubber/Air tires, not plastic, shocks, so it glides over terrain, great for all areas. Dirt roads, grassy fields to mall streets. I believe the weight limit is 100lbs kids alone have tallied 120lbs plus baggage, this poor thing gets LOADED down, still easier to use than any in line I have ever had.The front wheels have a swivel/non swivel lever, EASY!!!I have had mine for 4 years now, and the only thing wrong w/it is the spongy handle, is now starting to come apart! The rest still looks NEW. I have hosed it out and it is PERFECT! Go shopping, take your 4year old w/you, and have her sit in any stroller and try pushing her, lay the seats back and check for leg room in both front and back for both her and baby,(place something apx 20lbs in the other seat for an idea of what it will be like w/baby too) check accessibility to basket w/seat laid all the way back and child in it. Check height on the canopy w/4y, don't always 'clear' the head when seated up, do they cover or just shade part? do you plan on doing alot of walking or just a trip here and there? I had problems w/front seats, kids kept 'slipping out'. the seat was not long enough for the bigger ones, and the leg rest was not long enough, more of an infant size, but not set up to give them enough support. The when you lay the front back (does not recline far enough for a baby to sleep w/out adding extra support for the head) the back does not fit the bigger children's legs comfortably..shop!!good luck:)
I have been looking at double strollers as well and a lot of people have recommended the Phil and Teds. I saw recently that they are almost 1/2 price at costco. My son will only be 2 1/2 and I am still not sure if a double is necessary. 4 1/2 seems really old for a stroller.
my friend has a greco duo glider for her twins. its a tandem stroller (1 behind the other). some moms swear buy the side by side stroller but in my opinion they dont look very roomy and not all carseats are compatable with the carseat attatchment you have to buy. it it were me i would get the tandem stroller but thats me i like being able to have my youngest baby closest to me (in back) without having to walk all the way around. also there are the pram (i think they are called that). also the stroller where the toddler seat is under the main child seat the maker is phil and teds the modle is the hammerhead. (i googles it lol)
i hope this helps.
Personally, since your daughter is going to be a school age child (not a toddler anymore), I wouldn't recommend getting a double. You will be stuck with a big stroller that you don't need. If anything, I would recommend getting the stoller that has a standing area for older kids on the back. My son stopped going in a stoller by 4.

I have a wonderful stroller!! It is the Kolcraft Contours Double Stroller. It comes with an infant attachment so you can place the baby carrier in the and strap it down and you can still have a seat for the older child. If you have a car it is perfect for the trunk. The seats come off and it folds up very well. You can get this stroller at Babies R Us. I purchased it a year ago and it was under $200. I love this stroller check it out!!

I have this stroller for my 2 yr 8 month and infant http://www.amazon.com/Duo-Glider-Double-Stroller-Metropol...
The basket is big and will carry a lot of stuff but not a lot of weight. Other than that, I love it. I live in a big city and I can get around wonderfully with it. I'd take your daughter with you to look at it and make sure she fits in the seat. I have a big 2 yr old and I don't think it'll make it until he's 4. I'd look into that first.
When looking at strollers, make sure you get one for toddler/infants, not a twin stroller.

Congrats on the second bundle of joy! I have the Phil and Ted and it was the best thing I ever did! You must look into it! It is so fabulous! If that seems to pricey then I also have the Maclaren Double and that is great too! Worth checking both out!

Just as my older daughter was turning 3 I had a baby and got a double stroller. It was a nice one and I liked it well enough (although now we moved and so far it hasn't made the move with us so it's like a huge waste.... anyways)Since your older child is already getting a bit old for a stroller, I would suggest just getting a Sit and Stand one for those times she gets tired. A double stroller is difficult to fit in a trunk if you have a car. Also heres a tip- anything big like that, put it on a babies r us registery before your due date and then they send you a coupon for 10% of anything left on your list.
I haven't used this, just seen it in their magazine, but I always thought it looked like a cool idea... especially for the older toddler who doesn't necessarily want to be strapped down but still gets tired. Not sure what your price range is though!

P.S. I haven't looked around, but maybe do a Google search on this same stroller to see if anyone else carries it for a cheaper price... maybe amazon or something.
