Need "Thank You" Ideas

My son-in-law's mother and I threw my daughter and S-I-L a baby shower last Sunday. My mother lives out of town and came to my house for the weekend to help. We went shopping Friday and Saturday morning and when we got home my friend came to my house for about 5 hours and the 3 of us did all of the prepping for the shower. My mother went with me to the location of the shower and helped me set everything up and stayed after to help me clean up. This was a LOT of work! Do any of you ladies have any ideas of something I can do or give them to say "thanks for your help"? My hubby and I don't have a lot of extra spending money since I just spent a bit of money on the shower/shower gift and he is the only one bringing home the bacon.
I need to add that both of these wonderful ladies are really watching what they eat so sweets are out of the question.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for taking the time to give me such wonderful ideas! I know for these wonderful women in my life, me saying thank you would be enough for them but I wanted to do something extra special because they are extra special to me! May God bless you in all that you do!

Hi M.,

I make pretty baskets with pampering items in it. Anything that pampers a lady I feel is a wonderful gift because it is for her. Since they helped you with things that required her to use her hands and feet may I recommend a Satin Hands Set. It is smoothing, silky and sure to leave her hands satiny soft.

A nice card saying Thank you. If you want a gift- a frame picture from the baby shower to go along w/ the card. Or you could take them out for dinner or make it for them yourself at your house or their house since your mother live out of town.

Since they gave you a helping hand what about a gift certificate for a manacure with a note expressing how much you appreciated their helping hands in the shower and you would like to pamper their hands?? You can word it to your liking??

Blessings--

Hi M.,

I usually suggest some chocolate thank you cards. They are inexpensive and they taste good too! I am a certified chocolatier so I give them and my friends and clients give them since they "pack a punch" for a small price!

Hope this helps:)

A thank you card with a beautiful pot of outdoor flowers or a pot of planted fresh herbs.. I like to get a large pot and put Basil, Thyme and mint in it. They can keep it right outside their kitchen and use the herbs all through the year.

M., I have purchased some round address stamps off of Ebay for just a little over $6. They are great gifts! I bought one for myself as well and have been very happy with it. He was an excellent seller and the shipping was only $3. Here is the link to his Ebay store. http://stores.shop.ebay.com/loongchai74__W0QQ_armrsZ1

(My husband and I are Meme and Paw-paw, too!)

A thank-you card is never out of order. Also, I don't think that there's any statute of limitations on this kind of thank you.

1. How about you save your pennies for six months and then invite the ladies to a spa day (just manicures and pedicures or massages or facials...not the works).

2. Or you can spend a relaxing weekend with them in a nice hotel suite, just the three of you--a mature slumber party. Enjoy leisurely breakfasts and dinners.

3. Prepare a big brunch or dinner for them in your home. Set the table with flowers and drink mimosas or wine.

Hi M.,

Ideas.... I would invite them both for Sunday Brunch at Babayegas (if your mother can come back during a weekend) The Brunch there has a very reasonable price and it's excellent $17.95 per person.

Idea No. 2 Manicure and/or pedicure at their preferred location.

Idea 3. Easter is coming, you can get at Marshalls a very reasonable priced Easter Bunny, wreath or anything decorating. (You mentioned they watch what they eat so I am not suggesting chocolates, cookies or anything like that)

A lot of times we like the little things like soaps or special body creams but we never get to buy them for ourselves...you can also find something nice with a great smell at Marshalls.

Personally I like the brunch idea, that is if your Mom can make it. http://www.babayega.com/brunch.html

Good luck, I will love to hear what you did!
M.

Congratulations! What a blessing you are to your children. I would suggest an album or frame for a picture of her new grandbaby. They come in all price points and would ship easily. Best wishes!

You're talking about only two gifts; one for your mother and one for your friend. The Hallmark stores and craft stores (like Hobby Lobby) are stock full of very inexpensive little gifts. The gift need not be expensive as I'm sure you will write a very heartfelt thank you note. If your son-in-law's mother wants to be a part of the thank you, then of course you'ed be able to spend a little more on the two gifts. Look around for something on sale. You'll be surprised at what you'll find.

You've got some great ideas already and I'll just add one. Maybe you could make something for them, such as a jar of preserves, or spiced tea mix, cocoa mix. Just anything that has a personal touch to it, but it is so simple. You can festive it up by cutting a little round of material and putting it between the jar lid and the screw on top. Label with 'Thank You Strawberry Preserves' or something to that effect. They will think of you and your appreciation every time they eat some. It's great to have friends and family like yours!

Your Mom sounds great! I think that a heart-felt letter telling her all of the ways that you appreciate her help would be perfect - you can include many thoughtful things that she has done and gush about how you have learned so much from her.

Also, since she is out of town - you could compile a scrap book of photos of the kids and grandkids or along with your note put a promise to send her regular pictures of the new little one...

We live far away from my Mom right now and even though we have sent her flowers and some really nice gifts... she most appreciates the pictures I send of our house, our daughter, etc. She really likes it when I send pictures of my daughter and add funny captions or put my daughter in certain outfits (sometimes ones that she has sent)... during the election, I made a whole campaign of reasons to vote on my daughter and took a white t-shirt and made it a "campaign tee" and took some pictures with my daughter and the dog "making speeches"... I think that being creative with photos and sending your Mom a note of true appreciation will mean the most to her, but you know your Mom better than any of us so use your best judgement.

blessings,
stacy

This is not a thank you idea but rather a way to see your out of state grandchildren in other than pictures.
You can get a webcam and then download SKYPE. SKYPE is free and you can download that from the internet. The video is clear and it is FREE. My daughter gave me a webcam last Christmas and downloaded SKYPE. Now I can see and talk to my grandchildren like there were right in front of me. It is wonderful!!! I can watch them grow!!
You might try SKYPE and it's FREE.

A heart-felt note expressing your gratitude will mean as much to them as anything you can purchase. Perhaps add a home-baked goodie - or chocolate dipped strawberries.

If you don't have a lot of money, I'd consider baking them some homemade bread. It's inexpensive, but a nice gesture because it does require some time on your part. If you haven't done it before, there are loads of recipes online. Traditional bread won't be too high in fat or calories as long as they eat one serving at a time! :)

Since Girl Scout cookies are now on sale - They have a box of cookies called "Thanks-a-lot". It's basically a shortbread cookie with chocolate on one side. Yummy! Anyway, each cookie says Thank you in a different language. They sell for $3.50, which is almost what a nice card costs and its a little different.
