Need some advice on a baby carrier/sling that comes recommended by other moms. I have an infant I am watching right now. I would like to go up to the school more to help out but this baby I watch hates to be still in a stroller. It will be a number of months yet where she can sit up in the stroller and be content with food and a toy. I am looking for a reasonably priced carrier/sling I can carry her around in that will work for a number of months.

I just got an Ergo too. LOVE it! Wish I had had it for the last 6 years! I got mine new from a dealer off eBay. Worth every penny!
I LOVED my Baby Bjorn. It's much sturdier and more comfortable than the cheaper version we had previously so I felt a lot more secure carrying the baby in it. Worth every penny!

Neither of my children liked a sling, but I discovered the Moby Wrap with my second child. It's worked wonderfully well and I highly recommend it. It's very comfortable and secure since it goes over both shoulders, and it offers different positions for baby. I also like that I can customize the fit to my small frame (as opposed to an Ergo or Bjorn). I was afraid of a wrap for a long time because I thought it would be too complicated to use. It certainly does take longer to put on than a sling, but it's not nearly as complicated as I expected and I did just fine. Good luck!
I did lots of research before settling on a Hug a Monkey (all one word for their website) for a reasonably priced sling that I absolutely loved. I wish I had it when she was new born but started using it right before she could sit up. There are several ways you can wear it, including with the baby lying down, in front, on your hip, or even on your back. The sling holds the baby put and baby can face in or out. We used it for quite a while during several stages and the major plus for me was I could get it on and off by myself. The website used to have instructional video and probably still does. Wish I had mine to send you now that my little one is too big. Good luck!
I loved my Baby Bjorn, and so did my daughter. You can buy one at Babies R Us or Target. It is easy to put on and take off by yourself. My daughter loved it b/c she could see everything that was going on. We used it until she was too big to fit.
The Moby is a great sling. You can tie to wear the baby in the front or back and it's very affordable. You can even make it yourself by going to Joann's and buying 6 yards of fabric...don't forget a coupon! :-)
The Beco is also a good carrier but it's a little spendy.

I had an Ergo with my second son and loved it. Even when he was 1.5 and weighed 25lbs I could easily carry him on my back for hours and not feel sore. I think you have to buy an insert for an infant though. You could probably find one used if you look around.
I have used three different baby carriers -- hot sling, baby baj., and an ERGO. I LOVE THE ERGO best. It has the best weight distribution, easy in and out, and last the longest. I bought mine of ebay.

My 3 year old loves it, too. I occasionally watch a little boy, and he goes to sleep every time I put him in it.

Look on Craigslist or thebabywearer.com. In order to buy something off of thebabywearer.com, you first need to register and then make 20 posts or comments to other people's comments. Hotslings are sized, so you might want to find a store that sells them so you can try them on.
I also love my Moby wrap. I use it all the time when shopping with my little one!
My favorite is the Moby wrap. Takes a bit longer in the beginning as you are learning to wrap it, but it is infinitely more comfortable. I also have used a sling type. It's my second favorite.
I love my Moby Wrap or any of the Maya Ring Slings.
I recommend http://peppermint.com/. She's a local mama who employs sling experts who can help you over the phone to figure out how to use your sling. Most come with DVDs but sometimes it's nice to talk with someone as well.
