Hi Moms,

I am thinking about selling AVON, but need some info on how much it cost to start and what are the pros and cons. The AVON website doesn't give me enough info. I don't want the pressure of keeping up with quotas, inventory, etc. I am often in-between jobs because I work with an agency. I need something steady and consistent. Can you really support a household selling AVON? Please let me know your thoughts. Any information would be great. Thank you very much!

I did avon once. You won't make enough to support a family. When I did it, I made about $20 to $50 a month. It's more of a job to make a couple extra bucks a month, maybe enough for a date night with hubby or somehting. I've heard that some poeple can do well with it, but that's only THE top people in the business.

I have a friend who sells Avon and does very well but she works very hard outside the home selling. I can get you her contact info if you would like to talk to her, she is not high pressure :)
I have worked from home for 5 years earning reliable growing residual income with the same company, the first year I replaced my teaching income now in the 5th year I have tripled my income. Unlike direct sales, I can do this from home part time without selling or carrying inventory and their is no financial investment. You can contact me at ____@____.com if you would like to learn more or request info at nowhiringprofessionals.com
Good luck to you :)

Hi J.,

My daughter sells Avon and I did myself many years ago. It costs only $10 to get started but you do have to buy catalogs every 2 weeks, bags, samples etc. You don't have to carry inventory if you only order what your customers order. She's not making enough to really pay any bills but she did when she sold Lia Sophia jewelry. I belong to a wellness company that pays really well but again it depends upon how many customers you bring in. There is no inventory or selling. Just having customers join a wholesale club for healthy products. You can make a ton of money with the right connections. We have many ladies in our team that made enough to quit their regular jobs. You can visit my website if interested. www.DontPayDayCare.com. Good luck with whatever you decide.

It costs only $10 to start, and you do not have to keep inventory in stock. I am not sure you can actually support a household unless you are having home parties, consistently finding new customers, and recruiting.

Any of the direct sales companies (Avon, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, etc) are for a little income on the side. Only a very, very, VERY small percentage of salesman in these companies actually make a great income--- and many of the top sellers invest tons of heir own money in order to carry a big inventory to do booths, plus you have to spend your own money to buy catalogs. I know one lady who works for one of those companies and in order to meet quotes every month to keep her "manager" status to get the higher percentage of income on each sale, she often has to purchase some of the product herself. It's REALLY hard to generate enough business in a direct sales company to count on it for paying bills. It is NOT "steady and consistant" income AT ALL.

Dear J.,
If you need steady, consistent income to support a household, I would strongly encourage you to think about selling highly consumable products in one of the increasing markets of our economy. I believe Avon does have some consumable products (make-up, lotions) but also many nonconsumables ( like jewelry, my favorite :) which requires you to find new customers all the time. It would also be a good idea to research the strength and projected growth of those market areas (cosmetics, jewelry, etc.)

I do work with a team in network marketing, selling consumable products in the fastest growing sector of our economy, with no quotas or inventory required. If you want to check out the possibility of joining my team, you're invited to learn more at www.nonmom.myshaklee.com and/or send me a private message.

I commend you for exploring your options, and doing the research in determining what might be a good fit for you!
Blessings,
A.

HI J.,
I agree with Anne about finding a business that has a consumable product. I sell Mia Bella Candles and have customers returning every month to purchase another candle. We also have a new mineral makeup line called Bella Beauty so even if someone may not want a candle, they may be interetested in the makeup. To be profitable, a home- based business needs to be treated like a business and not a hobby. I suspect that those that say they are not making much money are only working their business every so often and not consistently. I have a fulltime job but have set hours to work my business in the evenings and a couple of weekends a month. While I am not able to quit my fulltime job yet, I will be able to do that sometime next year. Mia Bella does not have a quota and it's your decision on whether or not to carry an inventory. One more tip on a home-based business, make sure that whatever you choose to do, that it is a product that you feel passionate about. If you truly love the product you are selling, you will find it so much easier to share with people and you will want to work at making your business a success. If you'd like some info, let me know. Good luck!!

It costs 10 to start your own business with Avon. I have been doing it for about 1.5 years, though i am not very aggressive in my sales; it is more toward family and friends that I market to. I know you can do good by it if you really go out there. It is fun and you do get the discounts, which is basically why I wanted to do it. There are sales meetings to help boost what you are trying to do, though I have never attended. My upline is Peggy McFarland. If you want I can give you her email and she can tell you all about it.
