Need Party Crafts/activity Ideas for Kids 5 - 8 Yo

We're hosting a super bowl party next week. Some of our guests will bring their kids. All total, there will be 8 - 10 kids between 5 and 8 year olds. I need several activities/crafts that will entertain them potentially from 3 - 8 pm. We're thinking maybe 2 hours can be watching a movie. So, can you help suggest something that will keep the kids busy with minimal supervision, preferably something I can order online? No, we're not going to leave them unsupervised. We want to be able to chat with our guests while watching the kids. Half the adults are watching the game, the other half are definitely not interested in the game.
Also, what movie would be good for both boys and girls this age?

What can I do next?

Good luck with watching the movie for the kids.
I mean it in jest... because, when my kids have playdates.... and I have a movie for them, even one they picked out themselves... they NEVER EVER.... sit there long enough to actually finish watching the entire movie.
So it is moot.

Have a puzzle.
Crafts.
Board games
Legos
Play Doh
lots of paper for drawing on and crayons/colored pencils
Paper plates to make stuff out of.
Put it all out.... "buffet" style for the kids. Makes it more fun looking and interesting etc.
Get them goofy "party" hats to wear for fun
Boxes they can make stuff with.
Have a lot of beach blanket type stuff on the floors & pillows... to make it fun, and they can pretend picnic and eat there in the room where the kids will be at. Perhaps?
Treasure hunt in the room where you will all be.
Hence the adults can still view the game on the tv too.
5 year olds, will have different interests than the 8 year olds.
And different attention spans.
I have a 5 and 9 year old.

OH! This is another fun one my kids like: Get some helium balloons. And my kids like playing it by tossing/batting it around the room to each other. And it really wears them out and they sweat!

You will have 5 hours of keeping the kids occupied.

Who needs a movie? Send them outside in the backyard and make them play football! have the boys play and the girls can be cheerleaders. Then have the girls play and the boys can be the cheerleaders (they might have fun pretending to be girly).

Make a playcard for them and have them sit and watch the game with you guys, at least for 1 quarter. After each play, have them write down the number of the player who made the play and what play he made - catch, pass, blocked, punt. On the playcard you can list the age of the player, what college he went to, his position, how many years he's been in the NFL. That way, if a player is mentioned, you can ask a question about the player and the kids can check their scorecards and try to be the first one to yell it out. You know there will be some proud daddy's when their kid blurts out sports trivia like "Tom Brady went to Penn State" (I have no idea where Brady graduated from).

And have a posterboard up with both teams at the top, and have each kid pick which team they think will win before the game starts...its a shot at allowing them vested interest in the game, even if they pick a team b/c its their favorite color.

Have them work on their own touchdown dances and then they can watch for a touchdown and perform them when someone scores.

I think a great craft would be to cut out a big finger out of 2 paper plates, stapled or tied together w/yarn and have them draw which team they think will win. Or have them draw their team's logo on a piece of paper, roll it up into a cone and they can use it as a megaphone.

gl and have fun! Go Giants!

I like to order from www.orientaltrading.com

They have a "craft kits & projects" section.

For movie ideas...go to www.commonsensemedia.org and click on "Reviews & Advice," then click on "Movies." You can select the age of the person that will be watching the movie and then a ton of appropriate movie titles will pop up.

What about the movie Rio, or Yogi Bear. I have no idea if those are released or not Classic Warner Bro cartoons like bugs bunny??

It would be neat if you had someting foot ball related, like a target for them to toss a nerf ftball into,
Or some sort of poster for their predictions for the big win.

Don't forget they will probably be eating most of this time, so that will keep thema little busy planning their assults on the buffet.

What about a renting a foosball table or airhockey! keepthe big boys away from that :)
