Do you ever get in food ruts and can't find your way out?
I'm in a rut. I'm having a birthday party for one of my kids this coming weekend and CAN NOT think of a thing to serve. Well, I can think of lots of things that I don't want to serve and nothing else. All I can think of is soup and I don't want to serve soup at this party. Or I keep thinking of really cute ideas and they are all desserts! I'm in a serious mind block food rut. Help me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So it's buffet style and I dont want to buy bowls or spoons. I already ordered and received the plates and forks/knives. So no soup! It's during lunch, so I need something substantial for the adults. I've got the kiddie food worked out, but I want lunch food for the adults.
HELP!!

Pulled pork BBQ sandwiches are easy for a group of adults. Put boneless pork ribs in the crock pot with beef broth for 6-8 hours (or all day while you're at work). About 30min to an hour before you're ready to serve, drain most of the broth off and use two forks to shred the pork (it will fall apart). You can do the next step in the oven or the microwave -- I don't notice a difference in flavor, with either method: If your crock pot bowl is oven-safe, pour in a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce (or whatever your fave is) and stir it up with the shredded pork and bake for 20 min (until desired consistency and warmed through). If you'd rather microwave, put the pork and BBQ sauce into a casserole dish and zap it til it's warmed through.

Your guests can scoop it out into hamburger buns (i.e. no fork needed).
