Hello everyone,

In my ongoing attempt to eat healthy & lowfat foods I'm looking for spreads for my sandwhiches and/or wraps. So far I have on my list: hummus, avocado spread (not really lowfat but it's the good fat so it's okay if kept in moderation), laughing cow cheese wedges (not really healthy but def. lowfat) honey-mustard, and... that's all I got. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you.

What can I do next?

Greek yogurt! I use it in many ways. I add the same herbs that go into ranch dressing, to make a ranch spread. I often use single herbs, as well. Dill, is especially good. You can put Sriracha (or whatever hot sauce you like, if you like them) and mix it with the yogurt. Roasted garlic with the yogurt, is tasty. The possibilities are pretty much endless! Google for greek yogurt sandwich spreads!

My favorite greek yogurt is Fage. They have a low calorie, zero fat one. I think the texture and flavor is better then any I've tasted.

There are a lot of things you can mix with yogurt and are yummy. Just depends on what you like. Cucumber and dill with yogurt I just love, well it has never actually made it to the sandwich, nor has the meat, but I was fixing to make a turkey sandwich with it. Yeah, I eat the parts of my sandwich without putting them together. :-/

salsa, thai peanut sauce, herb mayo, honey pecan spread, pesto, marinara, carbonara, sundried tomato, any salad dressing (blue cheese, french, ranch, vinagrette), coconut curry sauce, hot mustard, hot sauce etc.

You might try the following- look up Mark Bittman (he's a NYTimes food writer) and 101 summer salads. Sounds a bit odd, but a healthy wrap is really a salad stuck in a tortilla.

Healthier still, forgo the spreads and just use fresh herbs and greens.

Good luck to you and yours,

I use light caesar or light ranch. Different flavors of hummus work too so you don't get bored.

While it isn't really a spread that you would add to other sandwiches, you could try a chickpea wrap. We are having them for lunch today.

Place one can of chickpeas and a few sun dried tomatoes into a food processor or blender and puree. Add to that salt and pepper to taste. Add some mayo or plain yogurt (1/4-1/2 cup depending on how creamy you want it). Spread on a tortilla (or put in a pita) and top with baby spinach. Roll up.

That's about 200 calories per serving.

Baba ganouj (yummy eggplant and tahini spread)
Pesto (technically not low fat, but it's olive oil and you don't use that much so the total quantity is low) - you can do classic pesto or pesto with arugula , mixed arugula/basil and/or parsley
White bean, garlic and basil.
Raita - yogurt with chopped cucumbers and toasted cumin seeds.
