S.T.
My kids don't have birthday parties with friends every year, although that seems to be the trend. When it's not the year to have a party we make their day special in other ways. Here are some ideas to make your son feel like it's an extra special day:
- Fill your sons room with balloons and/or streamers while he's sleeping.
- We always start our birthdays with a trip to the local donut shop. We put a candle in a donut hole and we. along with whoever is in the shop, sing happy birthday to our birthday person.
- Before the special day, I take my children to my local cake decorator and let them pick out any cake they want. My son's 3-year-old choice was Thomas the Train. My daughter, who just turned 4 a few days ago, chose Cinderella.
- Prepare your child's favorite meal for dinner.
- Plan an activity/outing for the 3 of you. You may try Soak City (they have a great water play area for young kids!!!), Legoland, Disneyland, Adventure City, the beach, bowling, miniature golf, Sea World, Kid Concepts, a movie etc. All of these are appropriate for a 3-year-old. The key is to make it special and something you would not normally do.
Regardless of what you choose to do, I can already tell your son will feel special on his birthday. Have fun!!!
