Hi Mamas-- I live in MWC and my son will be 1 in April. I want to have a small get together for my husband's and my close family to celebrate with us. I would like to have it at one of the parks there, if the weather is good, but I'm looking for a "back-up plan" incase it rains. Our family lives 1-4 hours away, and since the 1st birthday is more about the adults, I'd like to have something nice to fall back on. (Our apartment is just TOO SMALL!) Anywhere in the metro would be ok... And any other suggestions you may have on 1st birthday parties is also appreciated!!

What can I do next?

What about somewhere like Mazzios. A fun atmosphere, family friendly and a little something for everyone to eat. I am thinking that the salad bar would have some nice options for your little one such as diced peaches, pudding, peas, diced ham etc.-- You could always bring the cake and some festive plates and napkins with you.

On South 89th and Western there is a custard shop called Bodensee. They rent out a back room and offer a variety of party options at a very reasonable price. It is family owned and operated so I am sure that they would be willing to meet your needs. Hope this helps.

Well, I have only lived here for just under a year. I don't know of many places for parties (low cost). Jump Zone and Little Gym (both in the Moore area) are awesome for kids of all ages and I believe they both do parties.
Could you ask a family member to donate their house? We had our daughter's at my Grannie's house due to the lack of room at home and it was fine. Nothing spectacular, just cake and gifts and a lot of friends and family to celebrate.
As for first birthday parties, breathe! Don't get caught up in the hype and the show. Make it as much about your new baby as you can. Relax, have fun and expect a mess! Enjoy it, because it only happens once. Before you know it, he'll be jumping and growling and even keeping the majority of his food on his plate. ;)

The McDonalds in Midwest City has an indoor playground. I believe they still let you reserve it for birthday parties.
