Dealt with lice last year at the beginning of school - and my daughter has long hair! Funny thing is, I think <<I>> was the one who brought it home - from an airplane trip! Ick!
Which brings me to a point - have you checked yourself and your husband? It may not itch until there are quite a few lice.
You are doing everything else right. Are you combing their hair with a nit comb? It should come with the shampoo. Lice can't live off the head for more than 3 days, but the eggs hatch when conditions are right - as you're finding out - and you have to start all over. Use very good light and be meticulous in combing the hair. I found using a leave-in conditioner after a shower helped the combing go smoothly.
Another place to clean up - the car. Make sure you vacuum (or wash) the car seats/covers too, as that is another place your kids' heads touch almost daily.
After about two weeks of combing and a wash of all the bedding once a week, our lice were gone. I hope this helps you!
Girl i know how you fill i went down that road a few weeks ago with my cousins i did the rid lice shampoo and after you do there hair with that take baby oil and rube all over ther hair when they go to bed put a plastic bag over there head and tie it back so it dont get on there face this baby oil will help you alot to get the eggs out pull the eggs out why you have the oil in there, hope this helps you good luck
Lice are annoying for sure, but serious chemicals like Lindane aren't the healthiest choice. A brief memo about Lindane. It has been banned in 18 countries and severely restricted in 10 others. Lindane has been known to cause vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, liver damage, and other issues in children. Our skin is our largest organ. It is porous. Why are we risking our children's health when safer, effective alternatives are available?
I have a friend who went through this ordeal 6 months ago. She and her two daughters all have very long hair. They were distraught with the mainstream products, the chemicals, the ineffectiveness and the cost. She used safer alternatives, Melaleuca products, and cleared the critters up right away. She has taken proactive measures now, keeping Melaleuca's products on hand and using them regularly as a preventative.
