Need Help with Coming up with an Idea!

My husband and I will celebrate our 15th anniversary in October of this year. We have scheduled to take a cruise the week of Thanksgiving with our 2 children, all of our parents and several close friends. We were wanting to get remarried on this cruise, but from what I am finding, it seems that is more expensive than I thought. We were thinking something very informal with a vow renewal, not a lavish (1st wedding) celebration.

FYI - a little tidbit of very important information I feel I need to bring up - both my husband and my parents are all divorced and remarried--and 3 sets of the parents/stepparents also were married the same year as we were (and thus will be celebrating their 15th anniversaries, as well!), and 1 set will be celebrating their 25th anniversary.

My husband and I were very young when we started out (I got pregnant with our now 15 year old son when we were both 16), we were married when we were 18 and had our daughter when we were 19. I know it seems that I am rambling, but this is all necessary information for my question! :) (Sorry!) We are VERY clear that we were able to keep it all together and have such a happy marriage/family in no small part because of the support we received from our parents (all 8 of them!). We are really trying to come up with something to give them (or do for them) that will communicate our appreciation for those things we knew about that they did/do for us, and all those millions of things we will never know...that all made the difference for us being able to withstand such a funky start in our lives together. We had thought suprising them with a group vow renewal would be fun, and we could write our own vows to include the "thanks", but not sure that will work now. The options on the cruiseship are too expensive and I don't want to "suprise" everyone with something on our island days that will completely take over their experience. I know they all would love it, but they may have other plans on those island days...does that make sense?

Any suggestions? Thanks for reading such a rambling request!!!

What can I do next?

I do personalized wine labels. You can upload photos to the labels and/or any message of your choice. You can also choose from stock images.

You can order them by them case or as individual gifts. You can order the personalized labels on Sparkling Wine, Chardonnay, Merlot, or Cabernet Sauvignon...or a combo of any of them.

You can check it out at www.FineWinesAtHome.com ..or feel free to pm me with any questions!

Congratulations on your upcoming Anniversary!

Hi E.,

I'm stumped! I liked Stacy's idea, but you won't be allowed to take your own wine or liquor on the boat when you board. If you can buy the labels separately and then buy bottles of wine on the boat, that would work out. Then you could present them one night during a family dinner.

HI E.,

How about writing your renewal vows with the thanks anyway, and having them framed with a wedding pic of you all and a current pic of your family? I bet it would mean so much to them and it'd be a great keepsake for all of them. You could present them at your formal dining night on your cruise and the cruise should celebrate your anniversary(ies), that night anyway, for FREE!! I'm a travel agent and it's a common courtesy for them to bring you a special dessert to celebrate birthday or anniversary...

Hope that helps!! What a wonderful time for you all! E. :-)

Hi E.,
I am a wedding planner at Beaumont Ranch in Grandview Texas, which is only 45 minutes or so from you. We have a great little chapel here that may be perfect to do a vow renewal before leaving on the cruise. It would be a really fun and inexpensive option. Please feel free to contact me, I can help you devise a great surprise for everyone without breaking the bank.
Sincerly,
S. B

why not find a place to renew vows before you leave for the cruise..maybe the weekend before? then you could invite other family members and then the cruise could be a "honeymoon" for everyone

I also likes Stacy's idea. We were allowed to bring a bottle of wine on board for a disembarking (not sure how to spelll that)party, they had to open it for us and we had to finish it before we left the port, but you could give the wine as a gift and drink before you leave, or save for when you get home.
