Both of my sons have bad allergies especially with dust mites. I purchased the mattress covers from Target and Wal-Mart, but they just get ripped in about a month. If anyone knows of a cover that is going to prevent dust mites and doesn't rip so easy please let me know where I can get it.Thanks!

I bought mine at Bed Bath and Beyond. It was about $100 when I bought it, but I have had it for about 7 years now. It has never ripped and I immediately noticed a tremendous difference! HTH!

We have dust mite protectors on all of our mattresses. We bought them at Mattress Giant when we bought the mattresses. They go on like a fitted sheet and are also waterproof. Again, not cheap, but have worked really well for us.

We've purchased ours at Bed Bath and Betond. We use them on all our beds. They are allergen and water resistent. You can place cheese cloth inside your air vent that feeds the room, too. The filter for your AC does not catch all the dust, and you can use dust mite spray to seal all the fabrics in the room.

Are you talking about the plastic mattress covers?
If you are, continue to use them, but also place the cloth mattress covers over them. Wash the cloth covers each time you wash their sheets. You may want to wash their sheets twice a week. It is so dusty, and then all of the pollen makes our work a little more

Be sure to wipe down the plastic mattress cover each time also..

We purchased a electric room filter for our daughter when she was this age. It changed our lives. We made her room a safe zone. No carpet, no curtains (we used mini blinds) and not many plush toys. We kept her door closed when she was not in there. The electric filter instructions say to change the filter once a month or every 2 months. Living in Austin we realized we had to change them every 3 to 4 weeks! Yucky... Hang in there...

I bought some kind of bamboo fiber one at JC Penneys that is supposed to be good for allergies. Seems durable but haven't had it very long and it is at our weekend home which we don't use alot, but seems good. Check it out.

Hi S.,

I found mine at a matress store next to Bed Bath and Beyond in the woodlands. They are not cheap but worth the price.
