Hi D.,
My mom cleaned my 30 year old christening dress that had yellowed with Oxiclean. It got out most of the yellow stains and looked great for both my 4 and 1 year old to wear. Good Luck!!!
Hell All,
My son's christening is less than 2 weeks away and when I took out the white satin outfit that my other son wore, I noticed that it has some yellow stains around the collar. I am not opposed to buying a new outfit but I would much rather "clean" the one I have. Does anyone know of how I can remove the stains? My sister read something online that said to soak the garment in whole milk overnight and then rinse with water in the morning. Has anyone ever tried this or know if it works?
Thanks!

Hi D., There are two Shaklee products that will most probably remove the yellow stain. Nature Bright is Shaklee's non-toxic answer to bleach. Mix a scoop of it into warm water in a laundry sink (bucket, whatever) until it is completely dissolved. You might add a tiny bit of Shaklee's non-toxic liquid Laundry Detergent also. Soak for a few hours then rinse thoroughly - it should be white again. Where do you live? If you are interested, I could deliver one of each if you live near Georgetown. Otherwise, you can go to my web site www.emilytaft.com and simply order it there. Yes, I am a Shaklee distributor; but I have personally removed yellow stains from an old Christening dress that my Mom made from my bridal gown, so I know it works. I wish you the best - please contact me if you want - ###-###-#### ____@____.com E. Taft
Hi D. -
You can try Rit Dye Powder-White Wash. I have used this on white curtains that are always tied back, and they get that yellow streaks... works like a charm, and it will whiten up the outfit also. It is what I use on all my white shirts that are not able to be bleached, and brightens them up great! You should be able to find this at your grocery store.
Good luck.

D.,
I have to say ditto on the Oxyclean. My mom pulled out my 40-year-old christening dress when my daughter was born and it had a large yellowed area. She took it to the dry cleaner, who told her that it was an "antique" (does that make me an antique too?) and that she had to take it to a specialty dry cleaner to get it clean. They wanted $150 to get it clean. My mom, not willing to spend $150 on this, bought a tub of Oxyclean and let it soak. You would never know there was a stain on the dress. My daughter looked beautiful and I was so pleased that she was christened in the gown that I wore.
Go for it - and congratulations!
safest bet, take it to a dry cleaners. i used to work at one and we'd get that kind of stain ALL THE TIME. its a lot more common than you'd think. its not even really expensive. but if you dont want to take it to a dry cleaner,
i'd try DREFT STAIN REMOVER. its a stain remover that does a fantastic job taking stains out of baby clothes.
you would find it in the baby dept.
good luck.
Try laying it out in the sun for a few hours - sunshine bleaches out a lot of spit-up stains.
