So What Happened?

Thanks to all for such GREAT IDEAS!!! I got everything done today. I ended up getting her a funky chair from her favorite store and will attach a coupon to redeem for a room makeover! It's really difficult age to shop for and your ideas really helped me.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

If that's all she asked for, why feel compelled to get her more? Unless there is something that you feel she needs or would really enjoy, getting stuff for the sake of getting stuff isn't going to impress her. I remember being that age, and the most important thing to me is that I got the things that I REALLY wanted; I could have done without all the other little things my parents thought I'd like....

If you've got what she really wants covered, and there isn't anything else that really gets you jazzed to get her...it sounds like you've got Christmas done; just my opinion, but getting stuff for the sake of getting stuff doesn't make much sense.

Hope this is helpful (and doesn't offend)...Merry Christmas!

Ali

Ali S has a point. I wouldn't stress out over it.
If you are super worried then get her some gift certificates to her favorite stores. Then she can do the shopping for herself just like an adult.
My niece (11 also) loves getting gift cards. She actually prefers them to getting items. She likes to use them at the mall when she goes to hang out with friends, or spends hours shopping for just the right thing online at Amazon.com, Toys R Us, ect.. She never requests anything for Christmas unless it is something she really wants.
Also, one of the few things she has begged for this year is an American Girl Doll and American Girl books. These dolls are marketed to older girls that are getting out of the Barbie stage. They are expensive but collectable and of excellent quality. You can see them and shop for them at Americangirl.com .
I don't think any retailers actually carry them. You have to buy them online. Unless you want to pay next day shipping you may just get her an American Girl gift certificate.

One last idea. Get her a Lowes, Home Depot, and/or Target gift card and promise to help her redecorate her room. Girls this age love the freedom of creating their own space. You can limit her re-decoration to the amount of money on the gift card and no major renovations (like knocking down walls, moving outlets or windows, making built in furniture, and no attaching or gluing anything permanently to the walls, ceiling, or windows).

Digi Glam Makeover Gift Set

I thought that would be fun for a girl with style. It's a make over game she can play on the TV. It takes her picture and then she can try out different hair, eye colors, etc...

It runs about $78.

Best of luck!

S.,
Have you considered gift certificates for pedicures, manicures, etc. Things that the two of you can spend a day doing together. Does she have a Laptop yet? Perhaps something that encourages one of her hobbies; books, sewing materials, tennis gear.
I have a 12 year old son and he is hard to buy for also.
Good luck and Merry Christmas.

My daughter is 13 and would really like a cell phone but I think she is too young (after all what do you get when she is 16?)....how bout movie passes? and, of course, clothes.....never too many of those....my daughter received a karaoke machine last year that she and her friends love.....sounds like she is going to have an awesome Christmas!!!
