Why not take it way back to the game era of hopscotch, jacks, dice, cards, etc?? Hula hoops, jump ropes, skip-it's. How fun!
Okay Mama's..we are doing a gift exchange (numbered gifts with stealing) with the theme of "ENTERTAINMENT/GAMES" this year for Christmas. I need your most creative ideas! The category is broad and was not specifically defined so use your imagination--but they must be new items and not "joke" items (to clarify)! Thanks for your help!
P.S.
We all live in different parts of the country but will be together for Christmas...
Thanks for all the terrific ideas! These have definitely got me thinking :)
I guess everyone does their "white elephant"/gift exchanges a little differently. Ours isn't a true white elephant because all the gifts are nice, some just a little nicer than others and some are definitely geared toward a particular person, so there's lots of stealing :)
Thanks everyone!

How about a card set or a poker set? You could include a card shuffler and a carrying case. Should not be too expensive to do. Poker is pretty big right now also. Around here anyway. Have fun! :)
Oh this is fun! You almost have to throw a sorry gift in there so when someone receives it they fight to get rid of it quickly. One year I got a wine holder, it was an old tired maître d’ carrying the bottle of wine on his back. Everyone fought to get it.
My understanding of a white elephant gift exchange is that you give something you already have correct? AND something other can actually use? (referring to previous poster)
I think DVD's or a family game you have would be cool. If you want to get creative put it together in a basket with some bagged popcorn and old fashioned bottles of soda.
warm couch blankets for each family member and a couple "old" movies for a great entertainment family gift!!
what fun!! lots of good ideas posted.....I'm going to use some of them & add to my idea file.
Here's some of what's been a hit for my family: a combo gift of microwave popcorn, candy, & a vintage comedy dvd (Ma & Pa Kettle, 3 Stooges, etc).
combo gift of the "blast from the past": a variety pack of childhood candies.
an I Spy book & a magnifying glass.
combo of the ingredients for s'mores and hot chocolate/coffee (& a mini bottle of booze, or two).
a disposable camera & a small photo album.
funky, funky FUN socks.....several pairs! The same works for gloves!
mens work/chore gloves, a pack of hand-warmers, & a Chapstick.
a scrub brush, really good body wash & lotion, & a ....clothespin - in case the contents of the bag are not used! Always gets a laugh!
somewhere out there is a company which sells bath towels. 1/2 half says "butt"....the other 1/2 says "face". Always popular!
I know you said NO joke items, but I always try to add something funny with something useful!
A fun entertainment related idea is one of those big microwaveable buckets of popcorn with large sized movie boxes of candy. You can get those at the dollar stores.
Usually the tackier the better for these kinds of games, though, so you could also do some tacky slippers and a book, or a small gift card and then something cheesy to go with it. Have fun!
Old movie (1970's & 1980's)
CD of local bands
Deck of cards/dice
Cribbage game
Handheld Poker (or other electronic) game
Farkle game
Board game
The brand "Think Fun" ... .has GREAT games, for adults and children and is for ages 1-100.
Amazon and Barnes and Noble has it.
GREAT games... that can be played alone or with others.
It encourages problem-solving/creativity and outside the box thinking... me, my Husband AND kids, LOVE these games.
i hope no one gets the feelings hurt. our girlscouts did that last year. it didn't go over verywell. we won't be doing it that way this year; i think a couch blanket would be good. R.
