Shannon you know what always is a crowd pleasure chocolate dipped oreo's, pretzels or ritz crackers with peanut butter in the middle.. This is what we are adding to our gift giving this year my mom does it every year and everyone love's it.. I like the oreo's dipped in white chocolate with red chocolate drizzled over the top.. Good luck I'm sure what ever you come up with will be great..

When I've made them in the past, I would add things like nuts, nice crackers (e.g., Carr's table water crackers), nice candy (chocolates or hard candies), nice cookies (e.g., Pepperidge Farm milano's, etc.), and a bottle of sparkling juice. Also, tea bags or hot cocoa packets, along with a Christmas mug is nice.

I am gift basket crazy...I will turn just about anything into a gift basket. My grandmother-in-law is getting a DVD player for christmas...so we got her 2 DVDs and I got 2 of those hard plastic popcorm containers from Target for $1.00 each and put a thing of micrwave popcorn in each one. Then I got 2 of the large movie theater sized candies. We got a set of coffee mugs (6 that stack) from World Market for the other Grandparents and put 3 small bags of coffee and then 3 of those round fancy candies and 2 of the square. For my work gift exchange I got a 4 pack of silly Christmas beer (Santas Butt, Bad Elf, Lump of Coal, I forget the last one from Worl market) and 2 nice beer mugs.
I didn't do big baskets for my daughters 2 MDO teachers, but I got them each a cute mug and put a Starbucks gift card in it and sat the mug ontop of the little square box their teacher ornaments are in...than tied it all together and it looks cute.
Like I said...gift basket crazy.

Why don't you make some homemade Christmas Cookies? They would last, my mom and I just made all of ours this past weekend and we will eat them with the whole family on Christmas morning. I think people really like homemade goodies!!!

How about homemade hot cocoa mix? and chicken noodle soup mix (minus the chicken of course, lol)

Oh my goodness. YOu have gotten some great ideas.
First of all,
you could just use PB & J. I mean, you made it or it is home-made.
My ideas:
** Decorate a drink carrier (for two drinks) (cover it with paper or something, tie a ribbon to it) and carry it in that.
** Buy an inexpensive plain cloth and decorate the cloth or let your children decorate it. Make it look like a tea towel. (1.5 ft by 3 feet)...
We all put so much pressure on ourselves for the perfect gift. I bet whatever it is, they will love it.
