Most of the local parks have areas you can use for cheap or free. If you don't want to do it outside you could also check around to see if you have any friends or family that own a condo. They usually have some type of room that you may be able to use for the occasion. Good Luck.

If you belong to a church, maybe they would be willing to loan you the use of the church rectory. I love having my children's parties at the park but it is cold in January. I hope that helps.

If the weather is going to be nice, you could go to one of the parks. Have a cookout or picnic and the children can play at the playground. We did this last yeat mid December for my granddaughter at Seminole Lake Park. The children had a blast and the parents got to relax.

Not quite sure what 8 yr old girls like other than Hana Montana :).

There is a Cinderella carriage in downtown St. Pete. It's beautiful and I can't imagine any girl turning that down. Shoot adults love it. Anyway, go down there and get the number from the person driving the carriage. It usually rents for $50. We got it for $40 one night. If you do a tea party in the park before it gets dark. Small tea sandwiches, tea cups, etc. You can find tea cups on craig's list or thrift stores (they don't have to match!). After it gets dark, have the carraige pull up at a certian time and take the girls for a 30 min ride on the waterfront. Simple, reasonably priced and not alot of work! Publix sells Petite Fours that you can order from their bakery if you want to skip the cake and order them instead (they are little tea cakes and are Delicious and cute)

I'm not sure if this is age appropriate or not, but what about a scavenger hunt at the mall. Each team could have a digital camera to prove they did each task,(such as trying on crazy outfits,or riding on the kiddie rides)but you could have them do other things too, such as counting all the gumball machines in the mall. We did a twist on the scavenger hunt idea and had an "Amazing Race" themed party. You would need a few adult helpers to chaperone the different teams. We ended up using only two large teams and midway through, one team "kidnapped" the b-day girl so she could spend equal time with each team. Then, you could have pizza or chicken nuggets in the food court. We brought our own cake and drinks. Anyway, you can also look up party ideas for 8 year olds online.
Good Luck!
