Need an OB Recommendation for LFH or Condell -- Due in 6 Weeks!!!

Help! My husband and I are due with our 2nd baby in about 6 weeks. Due to some very unfortunate circumstances, our insurance was just dropped, and we are now scrambling to get our ducks in a row. My current OB is affiliated with LFH (where I delivered our first baby in '08), but doesn't accept state aid, which at this point seems to be our only option for insurance. Do any of you know any OBs that you'd recommend who are affiliated with LFH and accept state aid? We are considering switching to Condell if need be; however, I would still need to switch doctors and find a recommended OB who accepts state aid. I'd sure appreciate any recommendations anyone might have! Thanks in advance!!

What can I do next?

If you have been seeing an OB during your pregnancy, he cannot drop you due to a change in insurance especially that late in your pregnancy. You most likely will not get a doctor to accept you that late in your pregnancy as well. You may just have to pick a hospital you want to deliver at and show up when the baby is due and have the Hospitalist (OB On-Call for the hospital) deliver you.

I worked at LF in OB and the nursing staff is great and it shouldn't be that big of a deal. But, seriously if you are an established patient somewhere, they can't drop you legally as a patient. And, if you get on public aid, they cannot refuse you if they have been seeing you throughout your pregnancy. I would talk to them and don't let them think they can't see you.

Dr. Hartman is my OB from Lake Forest. His office number is 847*615*2229. He's located on the 3rd floor of Maternity. He's been my OB since I've been married in 1997 & for all 4 of my kiddos. He's a bit older & has like 10 kids of his own. I've never had a problem with him. I haven't heard of any of my friends who use him also have a problem. Not sure if they take the state aid. I believe their office is open at 8 or 8:30a.m. on Monday so you can check with them. Congrats on your little addition!

Dr Christine Calvello at The Women's Center, 660 Westmoreland. I don't know if she accepts public aid, but if you go to the Women's Center they should be able to help.
Great choice of hospital to give birth.

I use Westmoreland OB. I delivered both of my children with them and have used them for 11 years now. I have seen all 4 doctors there and like them all. They are affiliated with LF (only hospital I would use). Not sure what insurance they accept though. They have a LFH office as well as a Grayslake office in the acute care center on 120. Their number is ###-###-####. Hope they work for you!
