Need an Endocrinologist in Metrowest Area

I have had osteoporosis since 37 and nodules on my thyroid. For the last two years, I have been going to a specialty doctor who has had a very laid back attitude regarding osteo and nodules on thyroid. I have broken a rib doing nothing and no one is concerned. I am 40 now and think I need to be more proactive in getting a doctor that will take notice and look into things. I am on soooo much Vit. D and calcium but still losing bones and Vit. D never seems to reach normal range. My bloodwork for Thyroid seems o.k. but nodules are getting bigger and I have a goiter. Help. I live in Framingham and would really appreciate some referrals of an endocrin doctor.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you ladies for all your advice and doctor referrals. I have found that most if not all the doctors recommended only handle the Thyroid nodules. Now, I have a new request for a doctor that takes care of Osteoporosis. I thought all Endocrine doctors handled thyroid and osteo, but guess that isn't true. Dr. Gilbert Daniels only handles Thyroid. Any help again would be greatly appreciated.

My endocrinologist is Dr. Ann Sweeney at St. Elizabeth's in Brighton. It is a bit of a hike, but she seems to be a good doctor. I am just wondering if anyone has ever bothered to check your parathyroids. They are right near your thyroid and process the calcium for your body to use. If they are not functioning it would explain the bone loss. Best of luck to you!

I see Dr Spielberg in Wellesley Hills. I adore him; I don't adore his office staff.

He's an older doctor, used to be the Chief of Endo (?) at NW Hospital. But he's open and listens: I use alternative therapies, tried for a home birth, wanted to bf long term even chelated myself and he was totally supportive of all of it. I've been seeing him for about 7 or 8 years, even when I moved from the Newton/Waltham area, down to Providence, RI and now up in Norwood.

I think the most painful part of seeing him is his office staff. In my opinion, he's worth it; office staff is annoying and rude, but not harmful.

Good luck!

Hi,
I had thyroid cancer and my thyroid out in 2004, since then I have been seen at Brigham and women's Hosp, endocrine division. It is a hike, but I feel I have always gotten excellent care there.

I see Dr. Ellen Marqusee, but I think the whole department is terrific.

Good Luck!
E.

I had thyroid cancer a few years ago, and am followed by Dr. Gilbert Daniels at MGH. It may be too far for you, but he is excellent, and is the head of the Thyroid Division. Good luck!

Hi B.,
My husband is a sales rep for EMDSerono and calls on pediatric endocrinologists. I have asked him for a good endo in the area and he recommends Janet Lowe and/or Beverly Biller. They are both out of Mass General in Boston may have satellite office hours. You can also go onto the Mass General website and look under Endo's and see if there any out this way. He does know that the pediatric endo's will be coming out to the new Mass General site at Patriot's Place but is not sure about the adutl as he only delas with the pediatric endo's. I hope this helps and I wish you some luck in getting help. I am assuming you have had your hormone levels checked. It's amazing what being out of balance can do to a women's body.
In good health,
C.
