Need Advice on Helping 1 Yr. Walk

I wish I had some ideas for you. Maybe try the "walker wings". You put this belt under their arms and it has handles. So he might feel like you aren't helping him as much and gain confidence. I got mine at Babies R Us for around 15 bucks.

I live in New Lenox and have soon-to-be 10 month old boy/girl twins. Would love to get together sometime! Also try meetup.com - southwest moms group. Great group although I haven't gone to any event yet.

my doughter was walking when she was 10.5 month old, but my son was already 13 month and not walking yet by him self. But he started to push my doughters doll stroler, and got more self esteem, that walking is not so scary thing, he was running with it onother day, but never let it go. finally it came to just one hand holding to it. and in one week he relaxsed and did first steps alone.. i believe that my son need to make sure for everything, that it is not dangerous.
my friend offered to take something he likes to eat, and while he is holding to something show him, and he will try to follow it, forgeting that he is not holding to anything.
u also can try to put a rope between two chairs, and show how to hold to it and walk, it is flexible, and harder to hold on.

My brother created a walking tool for his son that needed some helping putting one foot in front of the other. When people saw it they began to inquire and he as actually sold a few. It is hard to describe but it is like an extention of your hands....instead of having to bend over and let the child hold on to your fingers. It really helped his son figure out his balance and rely on himself to get moving. If you like I could get you his # so that you can check it out I belive he sold the others for $30. My son did the SAME thing!! He was too stubborn! My son loved to learn to walk with the toy you push. Since he wouldn't let me "help" him he eventually learned by holding onto the table and then me coaxing him to walk a few steps to me! Don't worry he'll start walking when he's ready--and then he'll start the fun things like climbing onto things(my son is 15 months!) Good Luck!
